*BLF LT1 Lantern Project) (updated Nov,17,2020)

Sorry, I didn’t catch if there is a PWM or lantern uses integer number of 7135 in each mode?

PWM at 16 kHz. Details aren’t final though. We don’t even know for sure if it’ll have a single color temperature or if it will be adjustable.

If DEL returns, it could even use the nice constant-current driver he made, but it’s not quite finished so it would need someone with appropriate skills to do the rest.

Your second lantern is # 834 on the interest list severide

  1. 835 for you SKV89

Please count me in for 1. This looks great!

Done, you are #836 on the interest list. And welcome to BLF!

Sorry if I’ve missed it, but is there a price target yet?

Somehow I didn’t get on the list before now, please add me for one.

As I said before, price target is based on this formula:

(BLF Q8 GB Price)-(Price Cuts) = Final GB Price.

So:

(40:money_mouth_face:-(n$) = Final GB Price.

We’re expecting this to cost less than the Q8 did? Seems like everything from parts list, to tooling, to assembly would be more expensive.

If this has already been discussed previously just point me to a post #.

I´m interested, please count me in for one.

Please add me to the list for one, thanks!

@pilotdog, look at post #1626 and search for cost in the OP.

Also, the Samsung LH351D LEDs in bulk are much cheaper than Cree XPLs and Nichia 219C LEDs. We also don’t need as much heatsinking, and a lower power LED driver with a max of probably 1,4A, and the inter compatibility with the Q8 means costs will come down.

It is probably going to cost 30$US compared to 40$US of the original BLF Q8. Just the LEDs themselves will cost half as much in bulk, and it is going to help tremendously.

Interest list number 837 for Joat.

Interest list number 838 for prisma

Interest list number 839 for FilipeBanana

interest list sorted by entry number

interest list sorted by user names

I’m interested in at least one, possibly more depending on the final product, price, and performance.

I am in for two. I agree that commercial LED lanterns suck.

I am in for two.

Stereodude, I put you down at number 840 on the interest list.

NobleX13 is on the interest list at 841 and 842.

OKCOREY is non the interest list at 843 and 844.

I am in for one

LED cost won’t be a significant factor if it uses twice as many LEDs…

I think it could get a smooth enough beam with 3 LEDs per color though, instead of 4. So that could potentially help a little. In terms of lumens, it doesn’t really need more than one per color… but the extras help spread the light more evenly.

As discussed by DBSar and me, using the Q8 MCPCBs will help a lot with costs and modding simplicity.

It also makes testing much easier since we can easily buy the MCPCBs now. I have 3 on the way.

Edit: I am sorry for my attitude.
I had not thought about alternatives not costing much money at all.
