Q8, PMS SEND TO THOSE WITH ISSUES BLF soda can light

uhm… I was in the first batch list for the Q8, but then I gave my reservation up to someone else because I was in tight circumstances… but now of course I regret :s I payed 40 USD for the D4, which is worth it, but this massive light for the same price was just a gift… wondering what is the lowest price it has been sold after that. I remember deals around 50-55 usd… has it ever dropped to 40 again?

Not at 40$, but 46,50$:

Enjoy.

Have been playing with my new toy - BLF Q8 and still loving it.

While playing with the Q8 last night I noticed something that is not on the owner’s manual or the cheat sheet so I thought I would post my observation here to see if I can get more information on this unlisted “feature”.

Ok so this is what I did:

1) From off, hold and ramp up the brightness till it started to ramp up and let go of the switch.
2) Hold and ramp down the brightness and HOLD the switch down until the light is at the lowest brightness (indicated by one quick blink of the switch).
3) Let go of the switch, within 1/2 second push and release the switch one time.

Doing the above, the switch will blink once and will no longer glow green until you turn on and off the Q8 again.

Now I’m not sure if this is only happening on this version of the firmware (if there has been different versions for the Q8) or I just have a special Q8.

Thought I would post it on here and see what you guys think.

This is actually a bug which turned into a feature.

If you click on then off fast enough, that will shut off the button.

Thought that might be the case, thanks for confirming.

You can temporarily switch the green light for the button off by

- switch the Q8 ON and while the buton blinks out the channel switch it OFF. (It is a slowish double press). Or

  • while ON ramp a bit and switch it OFF.

I use this bug to switch off the green LED when it sits in the shelf. For normal use I prefer a lit button.

So basically turn it off immediately after ramping up or down turns off the switch light for that on/off cycle, cool, thanks! :+1:

Hello people!

I ordered 3 Q8’s from the first batch for friends and me. However one of three got the button light broken. I remember this was an issue on the first batch. I contacted the miller some time ago, but i heard he was very busy with personal stuff. Can someone here tell me i this is a problem i can fix myself. Or can i order some kit with parts to replace something?

Thanks

Sofirns Aliexpress store has started carrying Q8 parts. Go here, look under Color choices and you’ll see the switch for $3.

Hi.

May not be the right place.

Do you think the Q8 is too heavy for a hot shoe mount ?

Got a Panasonic Lumix FZ300 and was wondering if the Q8 would be too much for it.

Well, absolutely not.

The BLF Q8 is actually lighter than the FZ300, even full of 18650s.

So, no problem at all for it.

Thank you sir.

What do yo want to mount where?
The Q8 ON TOP of the Panasonic?
Or the Q8 and Panasonic with a double sided screw on the two threads?
Or the Q8 on a tripod?

Hi. I want to mount the Q8 to the flash hotshot on top of a Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ300.

Massive amount of light for night shooting.

I think it would be extremely top-heavy. As long as the hotshoe is robust, I think it would be ok, temporarily. Long term, I think you damage the hotshoe. I would feel safer mounting it to the tripod mount under the camera, or on a separate flash bracket mounted to the tripod mount.

Something like this would be safer.

Thank you.
