I sanded the driver down, just enough to fit and shortened/reamed the pill a couple mil. I donât normally keep the clips on, still thinking about it
These boots are better quality:

Also swapped in an SST-40 & cyan glow surround in the DQG Slim Ti extension tube light for around 1500lm max from a Sanyo UR14500P. I didnât like the LH351D 4000K in this light.

Damn CRX, damn :sunglasses:
CRX is slowly taking over this thread :smiling_imp:
Nice work mate :+1: Youâre a master modder
CRXâ- Itâs great to see you still have a passion for modding lightsâ- I have all kinds of host and parts laying aroundâThe get motivated to build them is the hard partâââââ-
Not a master yet, always practising though
Itâs quite easy to get motivated, you just need to substitute one thing for another until it becomes habit. Starting is always the most difficult part. I just swapped spending nights in the pub or watching tv to doing other stuff that I find satisfying.
CRX I usually doesnât modify much (I often do not have some part), but recently I have modded astrolux s41. I wanted to put a picture in this thread, but then you spilled a few your mods and I was a bit embarrassed to show it.
Donât be like that mate, never judge yourself by others. There are plenty of guys out there better than I am at this too, most probably seldom showing their work. So letâs see this s41
Donât be embarrassed! Did you see the first post that started this thread? It doesnât get much simpler than that.
All mods (and questions about anything flashlight-y) are welcome here.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Everyone in this forum was a novice once.
Enjoy your first step. And (maybe) share it with us.
CRX is an awesome dude for sure, helped me out many times and worked his magic for me, really is a top chap of the highest order! :sunglasses: Yet me, mr ven swaps the odd boot or optic! :person_facepalming: I am the embarrassed one, get your mod up :+1:
You know what, guys? I had once a few other hobbies, but only in this forum I feel a nice atmosphere.
Only change to triple led. Soldered directly to pill. I hate the original beam.
Very cool, which flavour nichia have you gone for? :sunglasses:
Looks good!
You have some sludge on your emitter domes. It may be worth it to clean them with some isopropyl. Sometimes emitters can literally melt down if the foreign object is too big
Cool, thatâs what moddinâs all about Chatika vas Paus :+1:
I was half expecting a magnet duct taped to the light or something
Soldering looks better than mine too
Thanks.
This is 219b 5000k.
I cleaned as much as I could. I never manage to clean completely, something always stays.
Very nice! I have converted a couple s41 and s42 to triplesâŚbest mod for the lights. I hated the beam of the astrolux quad.
Trips are Cool :+1:
Quad in a S2+ STUPID HOT fast!
:person_facepalming:
KawBoy, thatâs good for a cold winter
Still, it must have been a work to make it fit the S2+ head :o
Nice work all of you And thanks for the inspiration
Back when the Eagle Eye X6 first came out I did the first triple conversion and got hooked. Iâve done so many X6âs now with so many different configurations itâs become difficult to think of something new to do with them.
But itâs true, you start small and work up⌠like with most anything.
As I understand it, the S41 was a spin-off of a quad X5 I sent to Neal, back when the X6/X5 was a group buy and just taking off. I built the first quad X5 (I know this as it was a prototype I built it on) that one made 3030 lumens from the 14500 cell. Itâs been used to scare Black Bearâs off from a camp-site⌠the forest ranger was quite impressed as I got the story. Yes, I gifted it to a friend up North.
Once you start, it becomes an addiction, be forewarned!
Awhile back (Dec last year) I modified a friends Astrolux S41 to give him a better tint (heâs a tint snob) and while I was at it, I made a copper bezel to go on the copper head section for added heat sinking. He loved it.
