Copper S2+ limited edition

The diameter of my copper S2+ is exactly 24mm and the recess for the clip to go in (on tailcap) is exactly 23mm

Hope this helps

I got a copper S2+ with Biscotti and 7A XPL HI. It’s a gorgeous light!

I think it needs some ano removed from the battery tube too.

As edited: the white-balance is quite a bit off. This is not a stock green short tube but a blue short tube.
Baked 30 min. at 300’C. Salt and peppa added. It has a vague green hue over it.
Once again: white-balance. These lights are standing on a very WHITE piece of thick watercolor paper.

One click, white balance adjustment…

Hail Dale. We’re not worthy! (Just kidding)

This looks indeed more like the color I saw with my poor old eyes.

No problem, I literally opened it up in Lightroom and clicked Auto White balance on the slightly shadowed bit of white paper between lights (near 18% grey).

White balance is my life. :stuck_out_tongue: (Read… expensive wedding dresses MUST look right!)

I received my copper S2+ with a NW XPL HI and smooth reflector.

I’m glad for this copper limited edition…
However the beam looks like a fried egg with a very yellow center spot.
I have yet to see how it looks outdoor, but i’m a bit disappointed. :frowning:

Standard for S2+es. My first 4C I was sure was way warmer than that, ’til I used it tailstanding, and it was quite a beautiful color/tint.

That’s when I noticed that the spill is quite blue and the hotspot quite yellow, due to angular-shift of the tint.

Stick a 20mm TIR in there, and you’ll be really happy.

Thanks for the tip.
I’ve never tried the switch from a reflector to a TIR optic.
Any recommendation for a good source that would fit the S2+ and XPL HI?

Dammit patmurris, before I read your post I didn’t notice the egg

Due to a miscommunication I now have both a smooth and an OP reflector, gotta try the OP one and see if it’s better. It is one gorgeous light though.

Subscribed for batch #2, would love an S2+ in copper. And an 18350 tube too, hopefully!

I got assloads of them from Amazon (goggle “20mm collimator lens” there) but you can get smaller quantities from Fasttech, LEDsupply, even Simon’s Convoy store at AX.

I’ve done some “things” with different TIR optics and XPL-HI Led. You may want to see it here: Essays with TIR lenses on Convoy S2+: XML2 + XPL-HI [Update] - #15 by MascaratumB

Go to the 6th lens, A) and B) .
My favourite lenses and the pebbled ones as they “erase” most of the eggs and shifts. They probably work better with domed LEDs, but they perform well on the XPL-HI Leds as well!
I bought mine from AliExpress stores, but as Lightbringer said, there are plenty places to chose them

Glad Simon is making another batch. I forgot about getting back to this one for too long. Is it just me, or does this thing seem to be screaming for a Triple 219B?

stupid question… I generically ordered these (spot/flood) in XML… Is the best output found with the XPL HI?

HD is better for extracting as much lumenage as possible, while HI is better for throw at the expense of raw output.

is it for sale?

Is what for sale? Or do you mean: does Convoy sell these?

Convoy sells 18350 tubes in: black, grey, red, blue, green, and desert tan for $4.07/pc. NOT in copper.

There’s also the clear version, which is basically with the ano removed with a coating.
