The throw claimed is with the de-domed LED, but the led will come dome-on, as I understand it. What would be the throw of the GT70 stock, as it comes from the factory?
The driver used would be fet+1+15, instead of the original buck driver. Is that correct?
Thanks.
FWIW, I think the claimed throw, candela, and lumens should be given as it comes from the factory, not user-modded. Making a note of the expected throw after dedoming is great, but is not how the light comes stock.
This.
It would be perfect of they can offer the light engine with a xhp70.2.
Actually, the reason the head consist of 2 part is partly due to upgradeability. Not only for modding purposes.
Creating a easy and, hopefully much economically, way to upgrade the light with newer or different LEDs.
I have been using the short tubes on my GTs. Those of us with short and long tubes could make use of spare parts if we were able to buy:
1.Complete head
2.Tailcap
3. Battery Carrier
I would imagine quite a few of us have GTs already with both battery configurations and would like to have a lower cost alternative to make 2 complete lights.
Keep in mind that Lumintop has not built this light yet, so there’s not even a prototype to get measurements from (AFAIK). There are only the several modified GT’s that TA has built and measured.
I have asked TA what specs we should post for the dome-on led. When he wakes up, this info will be updated along with a driver amp draw. It currently says 2.5A @ 12v, but that is a carry over from the original GT spec. The new version should be closer to 7A to 9A range. Plus it might vary based on whether one or two carriers are used.
Before he sliced the dome off he was getting around 1100m to 1200m throw iirc. I can’t remember if that was with all springs bypassed or not.
