PlayStation 3 advice needed

Laptop is your problem. Did you see the other links I sent? Maybe its your CPU. Use a good controller, not that the PS3 ones are any bad.

My laptop's CPU is an i7-3630QM, which was considered fairly quick five years ago when I bought the laptop.

Maybe the emulator got better since, I am not sure. I did not emulate much, I just did it for the wii/gc and dreamcast

since you know about modding maybe you can get a desktop or spend a bit more to make one that can emulate well.

According to this website,

"As of June 2018, RPCS3 has been able to play more than 33% of the PS3 library from start to finish. The emulator is capable of running around 980 games at a playable speed with no major glitches, though it requires very demanding hardware on most games."

I do have a desktop, but my laptop is more powerful, and I don't feel like spending a lot of money on a new desktop that will play some PS3 games.

A real PS3 is cheaper and plays more games.

You wouldn't get it just for PS3. I never found the PS3 library very exciting. Strange that disgaea didn't load for you. Disgaea 5 runs on switch emulator already... https://www.dsogaming.com/news/ryujinx-the-best-nintendo-switch-emulator-can-now-run-disgaea-5-and-axiom-verge/

I played 1 and 2 on my PSP as a CSO. ;)

I'm more of a fan of the PS2 and dreamcast myself. What were you going to play on the PS3?

I was going to start with Disgaea 3 and Persona 5, though I am getting some more highly rated games.

I like RPG's, especially JRPG's.

Yeah but the point for using an emulator is one can avoid the cost of purchasing games. :money_mouth_face:

I remember those good ole PS2 era when I installed a modchip and then I could play a ton of pirated ps2 games and play dvds without those dreadful region lock.
Never needed a HDD to play games because consoles were purely consoles back then and not a pseudo PC.

My PS2 is chipped, and has a hard drive, though it doesn't work very well any more.

By the way, I won't be paying for any PS3 games.

Why did you install a hard drive? play too much FF games?

I installed PS2 games to the hard drive.

By the way, my PS2 won't read discs anymore.

Mine also failed to read discs. My PS3 still has a PS2 inside since it the fat one. Did you see the mod I mentioned with the controllers though? Saves a lot of money. :)

I believe that if your PS3 has the right firmware, PS4 controllers will work with it without the mod you mentioned.

I think I'll stick to PS3 or PS4 controllers for now.

My PS2 still reads discs but the GPU is kinda fried, So I gave away my entire collection of games to my friends. Lots of good games, the type they don’t make anymore.

The PS2 has more great JRPG's than PS3 or PS4.

And I played most of them.

I do not condone piracy of any kind, so the main point of using an emulator for not paying games is completely unvalid, and speaking about this in many emulation forums will get you either big backlash, or even banning.

The point of using an emulator is to play games from older consoles without the need for the original hardware, or to play the games at higher resolutions, better framrates, or with cheats and mods, and finally, to preserve legacy.

All in all, just rip your games or your friends’ games to get your own ROMs. This is what I have done for Dolphin: every Wii/GameCube game has been backed up from my Wii games, or my friend’s games.

I have smash bros on the GC, but I don't use it on there anymore because of its low resolution on GC and Wii. I don't think I ever bought a game on the GC/Wii besides smash bros or even played a game besides smash bros on both consoles (resident evil 4 was a 5 minute exception and wii sports too).

With PS3 emulation its honestly easier to just buy the games used and rip them because of the enormous size of the PS3 games. I know. ;) Its unreasonable to download a 50GB game.

You realize you just contradicted yourself?
The reason most emulation sites ban speaking of piracy is because they dont want to be associated with it. I am willing to be at least 90% or more of members on those kinds of sites have done it or do it…

ps3 has its gems too, i enjoyed demon souls, the killzone, infamous, and ratchet and clank series, and of course the last of us (still havent played it fully). right now the main games im working on beating is darksiders 1 & 2, i have them on pc but it can barely run them so i picked em up at gamestop for the thanksgiving sale and ive just now finally got around to them. God of War was one of my favorites on ps2 so im planning on getting the god of war collection and god of war 3 eventually.

I think that bluesword thinks of it like music. If your friend gives you music, someone bought it. If you pirate you are disconnected from it being bought at all.

The thing I have against this sort of argument is used games do not give any money to the developer, so I don't think of it as a big deal.

It feels more moral for sure though, but it doesn't really make sense.

So this time you’re neither having the original hardware nor the original software. Sounds like double Piracy to me.

Correct. Another point is these sites allow sharing of ROMs and BIOS which nintendon’t and stoney won’t take it lightly.

Never meant no other console other than PS2 have their own gems, but it is a fact that they don’t make em in the same numbers like they used to.
