Low-cost copper pills, spacers, optics, drop-ins (Updated 23/10/2022))

You can pm me, I will combine set without bezel for you, if you can get bezel yourself.

It’s hard to unmount the driver
The head and body of the lantern are glued together
Very thin layer of aluminum on the head, thickness less than a millimeter
During disassembly, I broke the head of the lantern
Do not waste time on it

If somebody will be able to supply 17mm boost drivers, I would make S2+ pills for single led.

kiriba-ru, the C8TT looks great! I will probably order one in the next few months. It’s too bad that there is no compatible 26650 (or at least 21700) body tube.

I read that you mentioned soldering a 17mm driver to the retaining ring. Will it only be fixed by the solder then (not good for mechanical stress…)? Is there no way to use a 20mm to 17mm ring, maybe one from Kaidomain?

C8 heatsink head was developed to use with current regulated drivers. Actually, this is test bench for those who want to confirm or dispose any supposes about flashlight cooling. Surely you can put 3 (4 with upcoming led4power boards) modern leds with fet and get 50-60W, but this power is not best idea to show difference between thermal transfert ways.
I could not find solution to fit 22mm driver, so it was mainly supposed that it will be used with 20mm boost driver from KD (modified to 3S). I had to make custom retaining rings, same time wanted to avoid problem that I met with S2+ custom rings. Milling grooved after turning threads put up some burrs and I have to calibrate every single ring with die to remove them. So, I added a lip without threads.
After I imaged all this on drawing, I realized that if I change ring inner diameter to 17.0mm, there will be a chance to use same ring in same head but with 17mm driver soldered to the ring. I think I left this opportunity for myself, probably didnt have any 20mm drivers atm lol. Dont think anyone have tried this solution.
You cant use driver adapter. With 20mm driver (1.5-1.6mm thick), you have retaining ring (threads part) almost flat (–0.2mm) to the top of battery tube. Any existing adapters are thicker, you wont be able to screw retaining ring down in its place so battery tube also wont be able to screw all way down (19mm battery tube can fit lip with grooves but cant fit 21mm threads inside). Also, ring is 17mm id, so it is not able to fit 17mm driver negative contact surfaces (outer ring), so you will need soldering even with adapter.
Im not sure youve ever pass solder mechanical properties in the config we are talking about. Driver weight is 3-10gr, damaging solder will require several hundred g acceleration.

Thank you for the detailed answer. I will solder the driver then.

What you mention is actually exactly what I want to do (led4power driver + 3x Luxeon MZ). The DD-mode is too much for this host, but that is the case for every 1x 18650/26650 host. For practical lighting the led4power drivers offer lower modes.

Those would run XHP Leds? I would buy driver and pill :smiling_imp:

I’m interested. How many have you got left on stock?

Im waiting any progress in this direction.
S2+ triple pills will gone soon, I have to decide should I make more of them or single led version will be more actual (with modern leds and drivers).

Height-wise, could you guess if it’d be possible to use a 26mm TIR lens? The mcpcb could “float” under the TIR (worst case I’d use thermal adhesive vs regular AS5), so I’m not too concerned about the ridge holding it in place.

A regular D26 pill would be too short to hold the TIR in place without having it rattle around, but I’m wondering if this pill to hold a quad might be too long.

You can use it if you will solve two problems:

  1. Fix the tir in right position
  2. Fill extra height (I guess near 4mm) between head and body with some ring.

Standard pill, or for the quad?

My biggest issue is that I don’t have much to actually do metalwork of any kind. Files, hacksaws, etc., but no metal stock, lathes, etc.

That’s why I figure even if the quad pill (raising up the shelf to hold the smaller height of the pcb+TIRs) could if anything be filed down somewhat, that would be more workable than trying to make my own spacer to “lift” a standard pill, or else I’d just need a spacer like one used in an S2+ triple.

What’s the height difference between the quad pill and standard pill?

(I don’t intend to run the triple too hot at all, if that helps.)

As some of you know, near a year ago Ive started to provide cnc made parts. This improved quality and abilities, but I couldnt provide rare parts anymore so I had to refuse when got pm with custom request.
I dont like to leave somebody dissapointed, I would like to give the last chance so anyone could make any pill Ive ever made.
List, from big to small:
Courui D01
Small Sun ZY-T08
HD-2010
Brynite B158 (4pcs reserved)
P60 single led stock reflector (7/10 pcs reserved, production delayed until September)
Ultrafire or another brand SK68 clone
Surefire type E?

I can make any of them last time (MOQ=5pcs, GB open) $25/20/15/10/10/10/10, or
sell any die (tool that I used to make good quality calibrated threads) just for $10.

Im sorry I didnt get the problem the first time I read your message.

I never heard about different batches of SS bezels. I appreciate Simon, he made big batch of them (without bezels this project was not possible). But as I can see all vendors (Simon/Fasttech/Banggood/Gearbest) provide same bezel that is included with my set.

Im not good in photographing and in most cases I prefer customers photos to my own. By some reason SS bezel was not used with the build, builder left stock bezel and this (wave shape) is what you see on the photo. Bezel that included to the set have sharp crenellations.

So does this mean that we can put in an order for any of the above parts? If so, I would like to get 2 x p60 singe led pills.

Yes you can put an order and it will be made if MOQ is reached.

Great, I’d like to put in an order for 2 x p60 single led pills.

kiriba-ru how much do the B158 pills cost and how much do they weigh?

$10
Last time I had them was more than a year ago. Dont remember weight. Defenetly under 50gr.

The P60 single led is it with a retaining ring or do you solder the driver ?
