Sofirn SP70 Alone $50, PM for AMZ US CODE(LIMITED)

MF02 with 84 mm head but seem like Sofirn aim for 90 mm from OP

” …A similar size of K70, same 26650 battery tube and same 9cm head ( a little bigger than K70’s head I guess)…”

May be it can be done with good boost driver I hope.

Agree Jason. About 12000 lumens is a safe option and possible with a triple.
With XHP35HI and 90mm head Ithink 450-480kcd is possible.

Wouldn’t SST-40 be a better option for a budget thrower?

Losing interest in this, a slightly improved l6 isn’t that appealing. We should go for a L2 killer instead of just going over old ground.

It would be nice to keep the price grounded in the realms of justifiable as well…

There is a bunch of throwers also.
K70, MF02, Klarus, …

Ha ha, you said “slightly”.

If the single 70.2 version can reach 1000m, that is double the throw distance. Even my current L6 which has only about 75% more throw and 90% more lumens than stock is a night and day difference. Absolutely no comparison.

The parts alone to build my L6 was about $50 on top of the $65 light. That’s $115, plus you then have to physically do all the swapping over of components.

The SP70 should be like a factory version of this, but sold at well below $115. Plus not everyone can do all those mods, so a factory light with all these upgrades is much more appealing. It would be a HUGE upgrade over the L6 and S70s.

I dont like the idea of a dual emitter type, please make the SP70 the L6 or S70s from 2018 and it will be a hit.

Seems we are clear about the UI, brightness levels(It’s confirmed that 5000LM can be made with high current.).

The name would be better be Sofirn SP70 and we can mark “helped by BLFers” on the package box and manual?

Do you guys have any ideas about the looking? the fins, the knurling, the cap etc. Example as reference will be much appreciated. Our designer’s brain is going to explode since several

new lights need to be designed this month. :person_facepalming:

The stopped K70 project has pretty nice design. Especially for tube and tailcap.

This sounds good. I think if the engineers made it only do 3500 lumen, people would be disappointed.

Sounds good, maybe even “Sofirn SP70 - BLF Edition”

I am not good at designing styles at all. We may need to look at several other current designs.

As far as head shape, I modified an image that shows the curved L6 shape on the top and S70/K70 shape on the bottom.

I prefer the curved upper shape because I hold my light by the head and raise it to shoulder level when using. I don’t ever hold it by the battery tube. Plus I think the curved shape looks better than the blocky lower shape.

I also prefer a streamlined tail cap on the L6 and S70 instead of the oversized, bulging tail cap on the Kronos K70 design.

I like that battery tube criss cross diamond pattern as well. Not so much the bulged out tail cap. Do people like the bulged tail cap?

Yes, the upper shape is better for sure, if they could remove that flat area from the reflector and make the body thicker at that point it would be basically as good as it can get thermally. The lowest fins could be slightly deeper but it is debatable how much it would help and too deep would hurt.

Could also add 1 more fin at the bottom as well.

My taste is a mixture. I like the more square look of the K70 but not the chunky tailcap, instead I really like the ‘tactical ring’ on the tail end of the L6. I really dislike the multitude of cut-outs of the L6 everywhere and in six different styles, and I dislike its crenelated bezel. I really the clean lines of the head of my LuckySun F3X (not the rest) and I’m a s*cker for SS bezels.

Btw, my L6 with smooth reflector, simple resistor mod and 80CRI 4000K XHP70.2 does 103 kcd (at 4500lm), but what is the throw of a stock L6? I searched BLF and all I get is ‘decent throw’ and ’good throw for the size” and such, but no actual number.

Jos, i agree !

  • Please make it a nice small stainless steel Foybezel ™ like the K70.
  • Cutouts, please without all the extensive cutouts like the L6 has, (the reason i have the L6 because it was cheap, but i prefer the clean lines like the S70s has) For me it would be perfect with the curvature of the BLF/Kronos X5/X6
  • Tactical ring, please make it optional, so standard a clean ring with the additional tactical ring
  • Tailcap, should not be bulgy.

I like Kawiboy’s cleaned up L2, but as said, the finning should not have all the cutouts.

The Long Variant :person_facepalming: Version

Personally I do not like perfectly smooth bezels at all, it is impossible to see if the light it on when put face down and I have forgotten they were on in more then one occasion.

TA, you’re right but i like it, it’s beauty over practicality

(just like women)

To be honest I like the look of mild crenelations better myself as well but to each their own.

Stock throw of the L6 is about 450 meters. (3150 lumen)
Stock throw of the S70 is about 480 meters. (3500 lumen)

I like sleek (think M*g), so the less it looks like a random assortment of plumbing parts, the better.

Smooth, but maybe 4 small notches (as if to fit a bezel-remover tool) would let light leak out in strategic places.

Think of a VG10/SF36/etc., only not as wide.
