To be honest I like the look of mild crenelations better myself as well but to each their own.
Stock throw of the L6 is about 450 meters. (3150 lumen)
Stock throw of the S70 is about 480 meters. (3500 lumen)
I like sleek (think M*g), so the less it looks like a random assortment of plumbing parts, the better.
Personally I do not like perfectly smooth bezels at all, it is impossible to see if the light it on when put face down and I have forgotten they were on in more then one occasion.
Smooth, but maybe 4 small notches (as if to fit a bezel-remover tool) would let light leak out in strategic places.
Think of a VG10/SF36/etc., only not as wide.

That’s hilarious! (But true, i agree)
I can live with the BLF Q8 style bezel though

Had to go look it up to remind myself what it looks like, but yeah, that’s nicely done. Doesn’t look overly medieval.
djozz:Btw, my L6 with smooth reflector, simple resistor mod and 80CRI 4000K XHP70.2 does 103 kcd (at 4500lm), but what is the throw of a stock L6? I searched BLF and all I get is ‘decent throw’ and ’good throw for the size” and such, but no actual number.
Stock throw of the L6 is about 450 meters. (3150 lumen)
Stock throw of the S70 is about 480 meters. (3500 lumen)
Thanks, so mine is about double that with the mods (and a bit more if a cool low CRI led was used)
Hmm, contemplating shaving the led…
Seems we are clear about the UI, brightness levels(It’s confirmed that 5000LM can be made with high current.).
5000 LM is fine but even higher would be nice too if possible. Even your C8F measures 3,500 lumens with a TA lumen tube. Maybe your 3x emitter version can output more. Would you be able to release clear anodized version of this host/flashlight like the L6?
I like the idea of getting rid of the scallops thru the cooling fins, the S70 looks too much like the X6 Hunter.
As far as a smooth bezel, wouldn’t the lighted e-switch tell you if you left the light on/off? You could also make the bezel with small scallops in it….an extremely less aggressive crenelated bezel? :innocent:
I do like both the smooth black and the polished stainless smooth bezel, but on a totally blacked out light, it adds just a touch of bling to it!
The stopped K70 project has pretty nice design. Especially for tube and tailcap.
Agree,original design with larger head.

It might be stupid but I personally found that with different battery C8F can give different lumens. From what we tested is about max 2500LM but you guys get 3500LM from C8F. What is the trick?

I like that battery tube criss cross diamond pattern as well. Not so much the bulged out tail cap. Do people like the bulged tail cap?
How about the tube knurling like Q8’s?

I think most of us measure output with battery freshly charged to 4.2V. You have fet driver in the C8F and if the battery is even 3.9V you can measure lower numbers. In my measurement tables all the numbers measured right after power on and jump to turbo. Some people measuring it after 30 seconds but as the light heats up and battery sags voltage that numbers also lower than measuring at start.
And the battery is very important. I use barely used samsung 30Q-s and LG HG2-s for measuring.

Freshly charged Sony VTC5D. Maybe I got a cream of the crop C8F with the best emitters in its bin.
3,490 startup lumens
3,250 30s ANSI lumens

I personally like an aggressive diamond knurl. Something like the Q8 would be nice, but without the milled flats.
Okay cool we are here to help
Once we get some idea of the specs we will start a new thread for a group buy.
As for price we will aim to please all! Make us an offer and we can discuss it in the group.
Say you want us to move 500-1000+ lights for this group buy make an offer based on the specs and that amount of sales that are expected? Plus any additional parts we can work out a new price if needed. You may have to send a prototype to a BLF member to check if its okay and up to standard not sure where that falls with cost (who pays)?
Also will you be selling the light through a 3rd party vendor or your aliexpress store?
Will you stock spare parts? Is it possible to make an OP style reflector that will fit if we get enough interest?
As for the name we can have a discussion here in the thread. I like the BLF70 maybe even BLF70SP i am not that creative so some one else will have a better idea.
Also i am with every one if we have a hidden strobe it should be a triple click to access from the standard group set.
Now i will see what every one else in the thread thinks? Does this sound okay lads?
That’s very nice! Thank you! (and sorry I get back to your reply late. So much information to deal with…)
Now we are kind of cool with UI, brightness levels. And we will send to confirm later.
The looking design is supposed to start next week. Hence we can talk about it this week.
More than 500-1000 lights would be helpful to keep it budget.
No problem to send prototype to one of you guys to test first. We send via DHL or UPS which is more expensive but faster.
To make sure the price is as good as possible, we would choose selling the light through our aliexpress store.
It’s not a problem to stock any parts if we get enough interest.
About the name, Sofirn SP70 – BLF Edition would be great. Thanks @JasonWW
UI, levels, Size, design, price. Did we miss something?
How about the tube knurling like Q8’s?
Works for me, without the ‘flats’ that is.
How about the tube knurling like Q8’s?
I don’t know what it feels like, but it has a nice look to it. It seems pretty much the same as the L6 tube knurling.
I like the L6 knurling look and feel so I think the Q8 knurling will be just fine for the SP70.
Ps, maybe it can use the same threads as the L6 and L2 so the battery tubes can interchange. People already have short L2 tubes. It’s not necessary to have matching threads, but just a thought.

5000 LM is fine but even higher would be nice too if possible. Maybe your 3x emitter version can output more.
If they use a good FET, bypassed springs and good batteries I would imagine 6000+ lumen, but it’s best to be conservative and aim for 5000 lumen.
The triple version I would estimate at double the output. Maybe more, depending on batteries and such. It may require very high drain 26650.
