Does the Maeerxu M8 really have low-voltage shutdown? I got one using freeme’s code, haven’t had time to test its LVP feature until now.
Using a new unprotected iJoy 26650 4200mAh, I turned on the flashlight in Turbo, turned off a few times when it felt quite hot, until the battery is now practically completely drained.
When I turn on the flashlight and double-click to place it in Turbo mode (double-click), it now lights up to just maybe 3-4 lumens; the red light indicator is already blinking for an hour or more, but the flashlight still won’t turn off.
Removing the 26650 battery quickly, I test it to be 2.58v with my DMM. When I place the said battery on the Maeerxu M8 and double-click to Turbo, testing the tailcap current shows it’s now just consuming 0.04A — so it may still take awhile to whittle that 2.58v down to 2.50v auto-shutoff voltage…
Or does the Maeerxu M8 not really shut-off?? Anyone else tested whether it does really auto shut-off at some specified low-voltage?
(I hope I haven’t been damaging the iJoy unprotected 26650 by doing this testing…)
The M8 works great for me. It’s become a fixture on my boat to find the dock coming in at night. Can spot the dock from 1/4 mile away, and the usb charging works perfect, and don’t have to mess with a external charger. I personally don’t care if the ramping is a bit slow, it still works well, and I’m never fidgety about being in a hurry. Double click puts on high anyway.
Just bought another one with your link and code. Thx Freeme
True, ramping M8 is not as bad as most would think. How come never consider getting green instead? I don't really use this light that much but M8 has this strange charm that no other lights have. Throw distance and brightness is very good for XP-L HI at $28. Definitely top three for stock lights in its class.
Some hints from Maeerxu upcoming projects are: 1) 26650 medium head, 2) 4x Li-ION CREE XHP50.2, 3) 8xLi-ION multi-emitter.
New video uploaded by Maeerxu. Enjoy.

my green one came in yesterday… :+1: took obviously the racingboat from Banggood …
But … it has improvements as well as some issues … :person_facepalming:
Improvements:
1. green color looks nice ( a little bit lighter green than green smooth Emisar D1)
2. wider tube for more batteries to fit ( LiitoKala Lii50A black fits now …)
no more “improvements” found …
issues…
1. no more ramping Now its: from off one click for “lowlow”, double for turbo, tripple for strobe, when on click and hold for at least 2.5 seconds to bring this light to cycling through low > mid >high, when on, double click and triple for strobe works too, single click for off.
2. now it has imo bad tinted NW to CW tending instead of its known NW to warm tending nice tint … :person_facepalming:
3. “green anodizing has minor injuries in typical lockout position”
4. Button works not as good as the black one does …
mine has USB-C too … and of course I have to add that there was a light-blue sleeved USB-C cable in the box. and wtf … a spare lens was found :disappointed:
Can any who owns Green Version give feedback on CW VS NW ? I am a CW guy due to brighter tint. But interested if NW is not yellowish or egg colored. I have the Green coming. Please advise.
