Australia Based Deals / Info / Links / Discussion

Can’t believe there is a Aussie thread on the forum. I am from Perth too.

Hi ssschen,

How are you going?
I have seen you on a few threads before

Hey all first time in here, first time buying my own torch. Decided on the Convoy L6.

I believe this is the cheapest place to buy? Just found the link from the deal negotiated prices forum section here so may be wrong. https://www.gearbest.com/led-flashlights/pp_360866.html?wid=1433363

Abit confused on where to get the batteries and if I should get a battery charger aswell , any guidance would be great

Not sure who is able to ship Li-Ion to Australia these days. Seems the rules keep changing.
For a great local seller, contact Supersports600 on ebay. Yass has a solid reputation for quality and service. Some have complained about the price difference compared to the international sellers but you will get good backup if there are any issues.

Howdy mate.

This thread is a good idea.

I still love that great light that you sold me!

CHEERS

I have been dealing with Yasser for years now and he is a great guy with lots of good info on his stock.

I have used his Blazar 18650s for years with no issues at all.

I fully recommend buying your batteries from him.

CHEERS

Hi Kevin,

If your torch doesn’t have on board charging, you will definitely need a charger.
There are many reviews for good chargers on the forum, but some are quite expensive.
The liitokala lii-202 (2 battery charger) is apparently quite good for less than AU$10.

I just about finished typing the info below when I realised the torch you want to buy takes 26650 batteries.
I can only speak about 18650 batteries from experience, but this might be helpful in case you end up with an 18650 torch one day.
Unless I’m mistaken I don’t think I’ve seen any 26650 batteries advertised in the big brand names.
My knowledge of 26650 batteries is zero, but there would be other people who would know and hopefully help you.

There are quite a lot of sellers of batteries on eBay who are based in Australia.
Some people say there are a lot of fake 18650 batteries out there, but I don’t know. If you’re not an expert it’s hard to tell a genuine from a fake unless you have the means to thoroughly test the battery. A lot of genuine batteries even have different wrappings and printing to each other.
Avoid unknown brands because a lot of them are rubbish and it’s not worth it to save a few dollars. Stick to major brands like Samsung, Sony, LG, Panasonic etc.
I bought 4 Panasonic 18650 batteries on eBay and they seem ok. I think they are genuine.
Most of my batteries are Samsung 30Q 18650 which are highly recommended by people on this forum. I have bought all of these (in packs of 4 batteries) on several orders from Banggood. They all work well and I think they are genuine. They ship to Australia - no problem.
I usually wait for a flash deal when they reduce the price. There is a shipping charge of just over $4, but if you buy 2 packs the shipping comes down to about 75 cents.

Thanks for the info Rob, I actually just purchased a 18650 torch today ThorFire C8s and a LiitoKala Charger . As for batteries Ebay supplier or Aussie site

Hi Kevin,

Good choices…
Good torch - good price - My first one was a Convoy C8 - I think they are almost the same.
You will be amazed at the light it can throw out.
I have a LiittoKala charger as well.
Keep Banggood in mind for future battery purchases, especially if you buy a pack of 4, they will be cheaper.

4 x Eneloop Pro AA
Made in Japan
$17.99 delivered

Doh I need AAA’s! So many ebay plus deals at the moment with $20 shipping :frowning:

$20.99 for 8 x AAA

Cheers, didn’t see that deal

Good thread. My latent torchaholic tendencies have recently resurfaced so good to have local sources.

In my possession:
1st ThorFire C8s from Amazon (very nice) like Kevin with 2 BLAZAR NCR 18650 B 3400mAh + Soshine AU SCS2 from supersport600.
2nd UltraFire LT-HJ Cree XML T6 from GearBest (average) which came with dodgy battery and charger

In transit:
3rd 4 x Astrolux A01 from Bang good to share with the family. (Need to get buy in from mrs to keep spending  )
4th 2 at once, ThorFire TG06S and VG15S from Amazon - which required some more batteries from supersport600, 2x KEEPPOWER Protected Sanyo UR14500P 840mAh & 4 x IMALENT 3000mAh IMR Protected 18650
5th BLF Q8 from Amazon with 4PCS Samsung INR18650-30Q from Bang good. Hopefully the batteries will make it, hard shipping batteries international these days.

Three of those Imalent are going to be presents to a mate, mother in law and brother in law along with 3 x Convoy C8 Cree XML2 U2 - 1B and 3 x Nitecore UM10 Intellicharger from GearBest. Again to get buy in from nearest and dearest.

That’s over $500 in a very short period of time and still no individual torch over $100.

Saw the eneloop above and got some AAA to go in A01’s.

The Max03 looks familiar. Is that a generic build copied by many like C8?

Amazon Lightning Deal ThorFire VG15S ends 1600 AUS EDT 20% off $21.44

Spewin ’cause I ordered one last week, delivered yesterday. Nice little light. Was doin BBQ rump and pork fillet for dinner last night and the outside light was broken so reversed the pocket clip (swap ends with light and tail cap) and stuck it to my cap visor. Medium was good for cooking, Turbo light up a decent portion of the back yard.

Fortuitously, ordered TG06S at the same time. 14500 battery on order so only on AA and not working to full potential but stuck that on Jr’s cap and we had plenty of light for cooking

My ThorFire stable :

C8s
VG15S
TH06S

Q8 on order and in transit via Amazon AU

S70S on the wish list

So thats what I could smell last night.

Yup and more to come. Just took delivery of 6kg chunk a rump from a mate’s brother who works in an abattoir, $8/kg.

ThorFire and Amazon are really playing with my mind. Now they are showing TG06S as lightening deal for tomorrow so within two days they’ve offered discounts on both torches I ordered last week and took delivery of yesterday!
