You forgot to mention that the XPL HIâs beam, while narrower is also much more intense. The beam with XPL HI will throw further (illuminate things at a distance better).
spaceminions: rondohatten:because i am a dum dum, could you please briefly explain, like im a twelve year old,
the difference in everyday use between these two optuons?thanks.
The XPL HI has a narrower beam with worse vividness / color accuracy and a tint much like the average âdaylight whiteâ led you may have seen. It also costs 20% more - up to $36 from $30. The LH351D has a wider beam with very good color quality and a warmer tint than the other. Still closer in tint to most daylight leds than it is to an incandescent or many âwarm whiteâ leds.

Good point Firelight2. :+1:
This light is also speced to use a Carclo Narrow Spot Frosted TIR (10511) Optic, .
So, as has been mentioned before: While the polls #1 choice, the XP-L HI; may well âthrowâ a bit furtherâŚ. it is far from a âthrowerâ as used in this light.
Looking forward to it.

Between the two proposed emitter options, you mean?
- XP-L HI 3D: Throwier/narrower beam, âdaylightâ color
- LH351D 4000K: Floodier/wider beam, halfway between âdaylightâ and âwarm whiteâ color
yes, this is what i meant.
thanks again.
Sign me up please!
Please add me to the list for 2
In for 1, please.
Waiting is half the fun! Canât wait for both my units. Everyone is doing a great job!
The 3000K, 95+ CRI, variant of the Luminus SST-20 is an interesting emitter.
Iâm just sayinâ
Hum, despite it seems pretty awesome (beam and âcolourâ) I guess it would be too much on the âyellow/orange sideâ! Personal preference statement, note!
I do hope, though, that the discussed LEDs can be offered, for Iâd like to have one of each
EDIT: BTW, are there any more news on the FW3A ??

Personal but popular preference.
Last time I graphed raw poll results, this is how things turned out. The only tint less popular than 3000K was 6500K.

Due to the 2 types of leds in discussion, I also thought the âextremeâ values (3000K and 6500K) would be the less favourite, and this table confirms it! Too warm or too cold in a flashlight like this would be not a wise move. Hence the general preferences for the 4000K-5500K!
However, seeing djozzâs test, that LED is a nice thing to use in other lights! :+1:
