[Available again! - BLF special edition light] new Sofirn AAA twisty high CRI 5mm LED

Hello,
I’d be willing to take 3 of each.

1x 3200K and
2x 5600K

I am interested in the 5600K version. Thanks.

I’m in for 1 of each tint variants. Thanks!

Yes, that was me :). These LEDs are way beyond any other 5mm LEDs that I have ever seen in the last two decades.
djozz is the one who deserves credit though for finding and posting about them in the first place!

In if fully potted

I’d buy at least 3 of the 3200k. Especially if they can be had in 45 degree versions.
Probably a few of the 5600k also.

My bad, I meant WW but typed NW instead.
Thanks!

This is a great undertaking and I would like to thank everyone involved!

I am just wondering if there is any international shipping option, also I am not sure I understand the logistics. Anyway, I’d be in for several.

One note regarding the choice of emission angle and such. I was able to mod my e01 with 45 deg 3000K yuji and I feel that the spill created by the “reflector” actually spoiled the perfect beam of the led. I think that the 60deg would make things worse in this regard. So I would suggest that regardless of the led chosen, the business end of the light should be blackened.

Also the tint of the 45 deg version was almost indentical to the incand while that of the 60 deg version was clearly on the “pink” side so one would see it cleraly that this is an LED light. Just for those who prefer incands.

I’d be interested in a couple of each tint. Keeping an eye on this.

I communicated a preference for 45 degrees to Sofirn, but my estimate is that there’s a good chance it will be 60, because that is what they ordered sofar, and I fear that the 45 degrees versions are not even available from Yuji now. But my feeling from what I read in this thread is that it is not problem enough to stop the project.

I will ask Barry if they would experiment with the shape of the “reflector”, in the E01 it is just a plain cone which may be good enough for the narrow beam of the Nichia led, but perhaps a parabolic shape, even with the rough finish, would add to beam quality.

Definitely not! I am just in favor of the pure beam of the led itself, so if there is a chance ghat the business end can be blackened I personally would prefer this.

Have you tried a yuji in a mag aa? This is an example of what a reflector can do. Very useful beam btw, by far more throw. But I see something special in the original beam, too. Just my personal feeling

I’d be in for 3 3200k and 3 5600k. Thanks to all who contributed to this project.

For those looking for pocket clips, Streamlight Microstream clips work great for pocket and hat brim use on the Fenix E01. Hopefully they will fit these as well.

I just noticed that the 60° 3200K Yujis are currently available at Mountain Electronics.

how do i get in on this? i would love to get 2-3 when/if their available!

Interested in:

1 3200K
1 5600K

Cool! I wonder how/why/when that happened! Thanks for sharing. :crown: :+1:

in for 2

you can buy about 300 from mountain, they are the 60 degree model that McGizmo uses, for about the same price you can get 1000 from Yuji

45 degree are not available

Thank, or Blame, The Driver for that

I respect that you are more sensitive than the people who pay $150 for a sapphire:

Sofirn Yujified Cockroach = Budget Sapphire

I've never seen one of those cockroaches moths before.

Looks pretty cool!
