[Available again! - BLF special edition light] new Sofirn AAA twisty high CRI 5mm LED

Well done. A light that nice deserves a nice LED.

I didn’t realize djozz first introduced these LED’s to the community. I take that as further evidence these emitters have enduring appeal. And as his test documents, they’ve gotten even better - more efficient, easier to drive - since he first discovered them.

My incandescent maglite has a noticeable, but not very bright hotspot with a 45 degree Yuji, although I didn’t play with position much. I assume the 60 degree should provide a more definite hotspot due to spreading more light towards the reflector.

I’ve heard the result is even better with an incandescent to LED conversion kit. I guess the reflector it includes is a good match.

Nice. I had checked before, and considered suggesting it, but since I have enough left for my planned tinkering needs, I didn’t want to suggest a product I wasn’t intending to buy.

"IF" it is potted and has reliability close to the E01, the reflector is good and it is around $6 USD, Being from Canada I would have to figure out how payment and shipping would factor in, but if reasonable I would be in for:

6 of them in the 3200K flavor.

Up to this point I have been merely tolerating the tint on my current E01 in favor of it's other highly sought after properties.

I have modded: - 2AAA Dorcy penlights, 2AAA Mini-Maglites with the 3200K Yuji. There is nothing like the Yuji's sweet tint and CRI despite its relatively low output of less than 10 lumens.

...1st post on this forum, just found out about it because of this thread. Yaay me.

Please put me down for two of each, thank you.

Welcome to BLF Lite_4ce! I’ve seen people saying they want it potted “and” as tough/reliable as E01. I’m wondering why the “and” is necessary. I’d think that if it can be shown to be as tough/reliable as E01, then it wouldn’t matter if it were potted or not. Also, if it can be made “as tough” without potting, then modding can be an option still for the few who might want to do so.

This project is coming along very nicely. Lots of interest. I don’t want to jinx it, but this might come to fruition soon.

back in 2011 this guy figured out how to unpot, modify, and repot his Fenix E01
that means people can do it themselves today, if they dont want to pay Vinh to do it, or if they want a real Fenix to mod for themselves, now that Mountain will sell individual Yujis

List updated through post 419 (sandanbob). Current count is 338 lights. We’ve reached a remarkable “caliber” in a short amount of time.

Short cut to the list

Members interested but not yet decided on quantity or color temperature are welcome to post. It’s great to see the widespread interest. Please be aware I’m not currently adding you to the list without at least stating a quantity. If you don’t state a color temperature, I’ll list you initially as 3200K (warm).

The list is not binding, but I want to try to keep a reasonably accurate tally as it should help Sofirn understand the interest level and might be used for an initial group buy, depending how Sofirn chooses to handle distribution.

A couple users have indicated they are in if potted. I am adding you to the list as Sofirn indicated they are proceeding with potting. If that plan changes for some reason, please let me know if you’d like to be removed or reduce your quantity.

Shall I list you each for quantity 1? Anthon and Bungle88, if you have a color temp preference, please let use know.

Thanks. Please let me know quantity and preferably color temperature.

Sounds good. I’ve got you listed for 3 x 3200K so far. Feel free to follow up as you decide on the 5600K.

Thanks! Updated.

This is a good question. I’ll have to let Djozz follow up.

I do know Sofirn has an Ali Express store, so I assume they are able to provide shipping to most nations.

I’ve listed you for 2 x 3200K at the moment.

Your post is all you need to be on the interest list. I’m listing you for 2 x 3200K (warm white) for now. Let us know if you’d like to change the quantity or prefer 5600K (daylight).

Welcome! I wondered if I’d see some more members I recognize from the other site join to get on this list. You successfully testing 2-cell mods with these emitters is what led me to upgrade my Maglite.

Got you down for 6 as requested. As mentioned above, if the potting plan changes, please follow up to let me know how that affects your interest.

Yes, put me down for 1.

I’m interested in 1 3200K and 1 5600K.

Im in for three of each please

I think I am down for 4 3200K, if so then add 4 5600K. Total of 8 - 4 of each

Thanks

P.S. looks like my user name is misspelled in the list

Okay

in for 3 lights in 3200k temp BUT ONLY IF FULLY POTTED. Thanks

In for 1 5600K

First time poster, yet to understand forums terms ,pricing etc.I am still learning to navigate the posts/threads.Are the prices shipped.?

Thanks for all poster/admins/experts for you time love and effort here.I dont think I can contribute anything here apart from asking questions and reading up top 10’s for few lights I am looking to buy…

Some of our most creative, informative and helpful contributing members started here just like this. You may yet be one of those if you stick around. I don’t know if you’ll take this as good news or not. :stuck_out_tongue:

Welcome to BLF!

interested for 3

I’m down for 1 3200K.

Thanks to all those who are contributing to make this dream light possible!

I’m interested in 2pcs, cool idea.

I’m for a total of two. One of each tint.

List updated through post 435 (teachtom). The interest count is now up to 361 lights.

Shortcut to the list.

Sorry about that. Fixed it.

Thanks for following up. You’re on the list at the moment, as the plan is for the light to be potted. If that plan somehow changes, feel free to respond again if you’d like to be removed.

I don’t believe we have information on that from Sofirn yet. Sorry.
