Emisar D4S review

It can probably still start fires, but not as easily. There are a bunch of physical and firmware changes which make it less of a fire hazard, but you should still keep it locked while carrying it.

Which 26650 is the best for the d4s? Shockli or litokala ?

Gray Nichia ordered…
I’ll certainly get a XPL one too… :person_facepalming:

From the pictures the circuit board looks screwed in not glued in like the D4. Do they make a 26350 size battery? That would be cool. The ui or whatever it is called is really neat. It would take a while just to learn that.

pat, the difference between those 2 cells is negligible so either one you find should do the trick. You almost assuredly couldn’t tell the difference between them with your bare eyes. The Shockli has a bit more capacity, so given that it may have an edge. Still, it’s a close call either way.

The UI updates sound nice enough I think Hank should have it implemented in the rest of the Emisar family going forward.

I haven’t really tested it much, but RampingIOS V3 already supports the same set of build targets that Anduril supports, so it should, in theory, run fine on all the other Emisar lights.

Would 4 XPL HIs or 4 XPG2s be better for running a hypothetical sustained output around 1000 lumens? Would there be any heat issues with the host and how long would the 26650 last?

Does anyone know if the magnet can be removed from the end cap when we don’t want it there?

I ordered the XPL-HI 3A. Wanted the Nichia but I remembered how hot my D4 Nichia got so… Hopefully we can run these at around 1000 lumen and still be able to hold on to it indefinitely. I know that my TC20 at 1800 lumen is hard to hold onto for an extended period. But I’m pretty sure the D4S is going to be quite a bit smaller than the TC20.

I’ll have to take a closer look at the firmware changes. Is there a way to go max regulated now?

The production units use the latest firmware without this bug.

Thanks for the update!

So, to answer the original question, there are no known bugs to fix in V3, no current plans to change it and make a V4.

Like in V2, the user can still reset to the maximum fully-regulated level by loosening and tightening the tailcap. If the aux LEDs aren’t enabled, it may also be necessary to click the button once while the tailcap is loose, to drain any remaining charge in the driver.

I skipped the other Emisars, but this 26650 version is just TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE!

I ordered one grey XP-L HI V2 3A 5000K… so far.

Hmmm…
How long does Intl’s shipping usually go to europe?
I ordered like 5 Minutes ago and still haven’t received my light :smiling_imp:

I also ordered the XP-L Hi 5000K Version - I have 3 kinds of 26650 - the old golden 4Ah KingKong, 4,5Ah Basen 60A and the Liitokala 5Ah 50A
WHich one should give me the best result? I would choose the Basen, but I can’t find a review of those from HKJ :open_mouth:

:+1: Thank you.

Firstly is the Shockli 5500 which is recommended by a lot of people on here a flat top head or a button top? As I want to get the correct ones and the sites I look at have both flat tops and button tops? Also the litikola battery you can purchase when buying the torch on the website is it possible to buy 2 batteries when ordering??

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thankyou

Toykeeper could you measure the screw distance on the MCPCB screws for Aux board design
it looks like 10mm from center counting pixels, but I am not sure maybe 4 inch

@ Fab1

for Emisar lights you should prefer flat top batteries so the head spring has more direct contact to the batterie. And it’s not possible to ship two batteries as far as I know, because inside the light there is only enough space for one.

Nope, sorry. I’m still not back at my lab, and probably won’t be for a while. I don’t have many tools with me, and people might already have the D4S they ordered by the time I get back. That’s why I put out as much information as I could before I left.

Woo ordered it in Grey with XPL HI emitters, 5000k, with battery and magnet, cannot wait for this to land!!!
