What kind of light is that ?

BLF Q8

@joker145

If you have the chance, could you post some pictures of the hotspot and spill? I am curious how the dc-fix effects the Q8.

I’m actually planning to take some night shots once it gets dark here, and also there’s a video online utube(ThatCrazyFlashaholic 67)
comparing stock q8 and with dc-fix.

Sweet. I just noticed that you posted a video a few days ago comparing the Q8 with and without a vinyl diffuser.
I like how floodier the Q8 was with the film and I hope you get an even better result with the dc-fix.

I received my 3 sheets and have tried it out on 3 lights so far. I put it on my Sofirn SP31, Jetbeam T4 Pro (old style) and my Zebra SC63w. Works great and got rid of all the green coronas and rings that were visible on those lights. Yes, lost a couple lumens but it’s worth it for the better beam profile. Feels like I have 3 new lights! Really impressed how the dc-Fix cleaned up the beam on the SC63w…wow, what a difference. Now trying to control myself by not putting it on all my lights. Good stuff :+1:

Sorry if this question has been asked, but the thread has a lot of pages…How do you cut this and get a good circle, do you guys just use scissors/knife or some type of circular form with a sharp edge?

If I can get the bezel off I will remove the lens, apply the Fix and use scissors to trim it to fit. If I can’t get the bezel off I will trim as best I can to get it to fit and then use a scalpel to trim to fit.

Hope that helps.

Cool, I was going to try to see if it helped a sloppy TIR beam on my olight, but would have to put it across bezel and didnt want edges curling from jagged cuts, be cool if they had precut sizes.

Yes that would be nice but, I think with a steady hand and a sharp blade you can do it. I have had to lay it on a lens more than once and thought I would mess it up. I took my time and it worked out just fine. I made a really bad looking video of myself trimming a piece to fit a lens on a light that the bezel wouldn’t come off. If I can find where I hid it on Dropbox I will upload it to YouTube and provide a link, and also embarrass myself in the process. :slight_smile:

I thought I answered this the other day it must have been in a PM .

usually I put film on the outside of the lens ,probably because I'm too lazy to open the light or it's a tough light to open ?? anyway I just grab a coin or a battery or you could use a socket from a socket set to trace with a pencil .I use scissors and just try to keep the cut as round as possible and I always default for larger rather than smaller .Since any light sneaking around an edge will show up in the beam . depending on the light you can tuck film under the o-ring with a toothpick .using water under the film letys you move film around a little like when doing auto window film ..Squeeze water out or bake at 10,000 lumens :P

Can you tell me what kind of foil you have? A shop here is selling so many different DC-Fix foils. Milky, Opal, Frost. . .with glue and without. . .
