Emisar D4S review

Where do you get the 0403 LED’s at Lexel?

Green is the sun’s peak wavelength, and most living creatures with eyes are sensitive to green light because that’s the strongest component of natural light. It also tends to be the brightest or most efficient color for emitters and for glow-in-the-dark stuff. Given the same power level for each color, green aux LEDs will generally tend to be the brightest.

However, blue works really well too, and will generally look pretty bright. Most of our high-power LEDs are blue underneath the phosphor layer.

Other colors are generally less bright.

On Emisar’s boards, or just on yours?

Do we know the size of Emisar’s aux LEDs for sure?

Edit: I don’t have good tools for measuring things that small, but I think Emisar might be using 0603-sized LEDs. I’m seeing about 1.7mm x 0.8mm. They appear to be smaller than the clock kit LEDs, which I think are 0805.

It’d be nice if these things all used metric units, instead of inches.

perzackly 1/5th this big

please use THIS application tool…

Thanks for the info!

I finally got the code published…

https://bazaar.launchpad.net/~toykeeper/flashlight-firmware/trunk/files/head:/ToyKeeper/spaghetti-monster/rampingios/

I also added a UI diagram. It’s sort of an awkward mix of Anduril and RampingIOS V2, but I hope the diagram is readable:

It’s not exactly a bad thing for manufacturers to have people primed to buy the next revision/model/etc.

Not in that context eas, but when they hold off buying til the impending next revision, already sure at announcement that there will be changes, then things get a bit wonky.

My sense is that, at least among likely buyers of Emisar lights, the % of people who will wait for an anticipated update is relatively small compared to the % who will buy one now, and one later.

But that’s really just a guess.

True that!

You can usually reflow a 0603 on a bigger 0402 footprint like I am using
this is what I did on my new Generation 3 tail board a dual footprint, I changed the wideness of 0402 a bit

on the D4 I had to use normal 0402 footprint as its very limited space

I found this info on the WWW.
SMD LEDs are available in four sizes, which are designated 1206, 0805, 0603 and 0402 . 0402 is the smallest, with overall package size of 1.0 mm x 0.5 mm x 0.45 mm (L x W x H). Then 0603 at 1.6 mm x 0.8 mm x 0.6 mm. 0805 are slightly larger, at 2.0 mm x 1.25 mm x 0.8 mm.
I measured the 0805 at 3.21 x 1.5,I measured from flange to flange on the bottom.
Looks like they are all available for reasonable price.

They are available in many more sizes, not only 4…

Note: on the back side there’s an arrow. The arrow points to the negative wire.

there are also 0201 LEDs by now

I ordered one time instead of 0603 inch, 0603(0201) metric resistors
they can be soldered by hand but not easy

:open_mouth: There’s probably a thousand components that size in my cell phone or other consumer electronics, but I’ve never come across those tiny things in stuff I’m building myself, and I hope I never have to. No thank you.

So did we arrive at a consensus on size? That comparison photo with the ruler only shows tab flanges on 0603 and larger sizes, and I’m pretty sure TK’s pics in the very first post of this thread shows flanges on the LEDs. So I’m thinking they’re probably not 0402s…which is good. But I’m not sure that’s definitive either. I’m prepared to wait and see when my light arrives, I’ve got both 0603 and 0804 on hand already, but I don’t have any 0402s here to try if that winds up being the right answer.

I am going to wait also.
A little off subject but too bad these don`t fit.

I’m going to buy & im going to wait then I’m gonna buy another color then wait then buy one last one then wait and probably get a titanium version then wait then get one off of someone that doesn’t like theirs then wait…

Hi guys has anyone got an email confirmation that there D4S has been shipped? as mines been saying it’s processing since I ordered it 6 days ago. I was under the impression that they were going to be shipped before the 10th August is this still the case?

And today is? The 8th, right?

Sometimes when you order from Intl-Outdoor it seems to be sitting in processing forever and all of a sudden it’s in your mailbox. Don’t know why that is…
