How to fix an 18650?

I have a Trustfire flame 18650 where the plus pole kinda moved to the side due to an accident (I was trying to squeeze it in the TR001 charger but it got stuck and I didn't see that). So the battery worked before and now it has no contact.

What would you guys recommend me to do with it? The cell is brandnew so I don't want to give it up.

I guess I have to cut open the plastic and ... yeah, what then? Does it matter how I cut it open, any recommendations?

A picture would help in this case. If it were me and has been in the past I would just replace the cell as they are not expensive. Replace rather than repair with the risk of catastrophic results.

Someone else will hopefully chime in on this tho

Just my $0.02

If its protected you could remove the protection. If not- its probably no worth messing around with it.

The positive post moving within the battery, if I’m reading right, sounds like some pretty significant structural damage. I’m not a battery safety Nancy but I think your best bet would be to throw it away.

The positive pole is usually just another cap sitting on the real pole, to cover the protection circuits connection to this pole. First you’ll need to rip off the PVC to see how bad the situation is. If its just that the cap is loose you can remove it completely. But again, this cap may have the contact of the circuit soldered to it and you might have removed this from the real cell. If it is so, you can remove the topper cap and solder this contact directly to the cell with caution and by being quick. You’ll probably need to put the cell into the charger to reactivate the circuit once again.

I'd never suggest anyone ever try to solder batteries ...I've found it virtually impossible to rebuild radio battery packs with nimh batteries ..there is no way I'd put a soldering iron to a lithium ion

Just remove the protection circuit then. I don't think you can cause that much danger by touching it just a second or two. Positive pole sits a bit above the cell itself, due to its air vents. I prep the surface with some sandpaper and soldering paste, apply just some quick solder, wait to cool down and solder the wire at the second attempt.

Sounds reasonable to me. No way would I ever follow my own advice to leave it alone.

Can you guys tell me any tricks and advices for the future what to do when a battery doesn't fit where it should?

The TR001 charger is pretty good and very cheap but the protected flames are hella fat and are not that easy to squeeze in. Personally I think this is completely retarded since both batteries and charger are from the same brand but on the other hand it's just Chinese ... yeah however you wanna call it. BUDGET!^^
