[Available again! - BLF special edition light] new Sofirn AAA twisty high CRI 5mm LED

From me?

Another DIY idea for those who don’t want a magnet and/or tritium, fill the holes with glow in the dark epoxy. I have never done it myself, but have seen people do it on flashlights and other various EDC gadgets.

Right. I don’t think anyone has requested that Sofirn offer tritium vials. There’s existing sources for those.

I’m just going with the consensus on the tail design, although if it has a tritium slot, I might consider picking a favorite copy from the handful I will buy to stick one in, but it’s not a priority.

Likewise for a magnet - I might pick one to keep in a toolbox or on the fridge, but I don’t think I’d want a magnet in all of them.

And I’m not going to worry about the empty holes in the others, because they’re only ~3mm deep, and if they bother me, I can fill them with epoxy. Or maybe glow-in-the-dark powder if I feel artistic.

People make GITD epoxy? Genius!

Do you have a link to a good product, by any chance?

I’ve never done it, but I’m guessing it would involve just mixing GITD powder into a two-part epoxy mixture. I think I remember reading before that the ‘right’ way to mix in pigments of any kind is to mix them thoroughly into the base resin, or “Part A”, then mix the hardener, “Part B” into it.
Here’s a really impressive GITD powder that even responds to heat.

word to the wise, from your friendly hijack monitor

I invite USAll to remember to stay on topic, so Sofirn does not think were just a bunch of random talkers

ON topic: new Sofirn AAA twisty

Off topic: glow powder
I know, it was about the holes in the AAA twisty, but really it has zero to do with what Sofirn needs to know to start printing Light Bodies!

Lets not do what the FW3B thread did… just random talk to fill time while nothing gets done

I think its time for a prototype Sofirn RoachLight… they got the tube right, the clip right, the tail right, and the LED right… Now pot it and shoot it… I bet it stays lit…

and Im glad gurdygurds is here to help drop, drag and throw one around… I bet it stays lit during that too

how hard can it be to pot an LED into a tube with a battery inside… lets GitErDone

Let’s not forget that the Klarus Mi02, which is a blatant E01 clone that survived many torture tests on CPF, was ceremoniously tossed off of a 3 story parking garage along with my E01 and DIED upon impact while the E01 giggled and continued to function like ain’t nuttin happened. It might be tougher than one thinks to equal the toughness of The Toughest.

I got notice that the “engineers dont’ think it will help with parabolic reflector. Would be better to keep the E01 reflector design”

That does not sound like they did much experimenting, but since here on the forum the opinions about the reflector shape varied anyway I will not stress them anymore about it.

(bypassing opinions, I will do some experimenting myself at some point so that at least afterwards I can tell the world that I was right about it  :stuck_out_tongue: )

Come to think of it, the reflector design in that first render of theirs would be an even bigger/deeper lint trap than the E01.

I think the tail should be simple, no magnet, as that doesn’t interact well with many other keychain items, trait slot is good but not necessary. Pocket clip for sure, even as an optional accessory.
In regards to the reflector… in a 5 mm light the reflector usually doesn’t do a whole lot. The led has a lens molded into it, this makes the most difference. The conical, brushed aluminum of the e01 is probably the easiest to machine and therefore cheapest.
Spend money on knuckling if anything.

Hey guys! Thanks to the 26 people who have already responded to the survey. If you haven’t taken it, here is the link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SH8J7BS

That is a from a few minutes ago:

Thanks Docc, 29 responses already gives a picture. Let’s run the poll for one more day and end it together with TheShadowGuy’s poll for the complete picture.

Could you post the link once more so that people do not have search for it?
Edit:link is already below

Hi, I’m now in for 4x3200k instead of 2x3200k from post 565, thank you

I just found this I would be interested in 2*3200 and 1*5600.
Thank you.

As much as I enjoyed reading your torture test adventures, it should be noted that using a single light of each type isn’t statistically significant.

Interested

I am already on the list for the 6 above.

Please put me down for two (2) more. Please make them both 3200K.

Thank you….

AWESOME I WANT IN!

Lots of page here, but I just heard about it. I saw in the original post an unbelievably low price; can anybody clarify what the projected pricing is? Assuming something reasonable count me in for two- do I just sign up to the google doc?
