Banggood Dispute advise needed

Dear all,

I purchased a dx80 a from Banggood months back. 2 months ago the light smoked up and refused to turn on.

So i contacted banggood via email and they told me to return the flashlight.

So i paid for return shipping and after 2 months of waiting they told me they refuse to pay the import charges and the customs will return the faulty flashlight to me.

The light is pretty new and still under warranty coverage.

this the the email i received

*“Thank you for your email and order 40758071.

We are very sorry for such destabilizing encounters you have been faced with. As shown in the tracking information, your package is being returned to you by the Customs due to our refusal of payment customs charges.

Since the importing tax is extremely high, we rejected the package. However, considering that you have been waiting for a long time, we would like to return 500 BG points as a token of our apologizes.

We beg your understanding for all the inconvenience caused.

Looking forward to your reply.“*

How can i contact BG customer service via BLF forum?

Assuming you don’t want to return it directly to the manufacturer: did you use PayPal? Filing a PayPal case can get you a refund up to 6 months after the date of purchase.

Alternatively, your credit card company might be able to do a chargeback. I don’t know the rules in Singapore, and I’ve never done one myself, but I’ve heard that people in the UK and the US have been able to do chargebacks 12 months after the date of purchase.

Thanks Phlogiston!

I did use Paypal, however the 6 months policy wont be applicable , I shipped the item in June , and it was held by customs for 2 months!
The warranty for the DX80 is 5 years , the light is about 7months old today.

Forget BG CS, just make a claim via paypal.

okay thats bad, so they refuse the package because they have to pay some customs? what about u, a light thats suddenly went kaputt? this is why Imalent sucks they are not making lights u can rely on…. this is why olight and acebeam are better u get atleast warranty and help if something happens.

Best u can do is have them send it back then and then contact Imalent directly but dont count on them really… they dont care about CS….

I asume you wrote the full value of the light when u sent it to banggood… also what instructions did they gave u ? its weird they refuse because u wrote value.

This is why u should never buy more expensive lights from sites like that, its a pain in the A to solve it proper after…

We have this problem with customers all the time. 15yo faulty instruments are returned with customs values in excess of the new price, then we get slapped with a huge tax bill for duty.

When returning goods you can give them two values, one for customs and one for insurance. My advice to our customers is use a low value for customs and the replacement value for insurance. After all, if its faulty its worthless.

Where is their return address? I didn’t know China had customs taxes.
