BLF A6 FET+7135 Light Troubleshooting and Mod thread

I don’t even know what the 11-mode firmware is. It doesn’t sound familiar, unless “11” means “7+4”.

On mine, I run something a little different… cypreus2. It’s similar to blf-a6 in the 7-level mode, with no memory and no config options. But in the hidden blinkies, it has a lot more modes:

(the current version is rearranged a little, but this shows the general idea)

I believe you once mentioned that ( Code now public! BLF A6 FET+7135 Light. Short 18350 tubes and Unanodized Lights Available - #6194 by ToyKeeper) that I had Bistro flashed on mine when I one asked why it didn’t match the advertise setup… Where as my partners had the stock/first firmware… SO does that mean I can flash the bistro firmware? and s the currrent one in the index same as the one flashed on mine?

It has been a while. However, if there is a question about what type of MCU is on the driver, you should probably look at the chip to find out. It should be either tiny13 (blf-a6) or tiny25 (bistro).

Or it should be pretty clear which is which any time you turn it on at a medium level. BLF-A6 lights up at the target level immediately, while Bistro has a soft start effect which glides from zero to the target level over about a third or a quarter of a second. Or you could tell by entering config mode. BLF-A6 blinks twice, pauses, blinks twice, pauses, then exits. However, Bistro has a much longer config menu.

I know that my partners is the original BLF A6…and on spring side says a17dd_l and blf,

thank you for answering my questions and your patience…

You MUST read the actual tattoo on the 8-pin chip. Either chip can be on that same driver board and trying to flash the wrong file can lock the driver up.

She’s trying to help you out, telling her what the DRIVER says doesn’t answer the question she asked in order to better answer your questions. It’s like you’re not reading her posts, just the first line of each…

ok so how do I get to it??? I have unscrewed the brass rig but can’t seem to get further! without desoldering Both blfs look to have the SAME driver and looks like this one Page Not Found - Aliexpress.com my firmware is def Bistr and partners is def BLFa6 Ui

I’m wondering, the driver on my Astrolux S41S (quad-Nichia 219B or 219C) seems to be malfunctioning (Moon mode doesn’t light up, the 2nd and 3rd brightness mode are exactly the same brightness). I notice the Astrolux S41S uses the exact same user interface as the Astrolux S1 (BLF A6).

Would it be OK to just buy a BLF A6 firmware driver (the one from Banggood) to replace the malfunctioning driver on the Astrolux S41S? Or is it a different driver that’s designed for quad-LEDs?

Yes, that should work fine. It is the same part that Astrolux uses.

After a month, my most recent BLF A6 started rattling when shaken because the lens is loose and taps the sides of its housing. It’s tightened down as much as it will go.

Any suggestions on a fix would be appreciated.

Do you have a spare O-ring to put between the lens and the bezel?

That worked. Thank you!

Although my other A6 does not rattle, I’m going to do the same thing to it to prevent debris from getting under the lens.

You’re welcome

BLF A6 / Astrolux S1 quality control is very flaky, hence the variation. I have an A6 whose bezel only screws down properly if the O-ring is between the lens and the reflector (which compromises the water resistance).

I need to experiment with some spare parts to see if I can fix that. Alternatively, I might transplant the LED and driver to a Convoy S2+ host I have lying about.

New member here. This light was my first purchase. My is rattling after only 2 days… So if im. Reading this correctly, oring above the lens and another around the reflector in the groove? This won’t put too much pressure on the pcb? Or the reflector? Just wondering.

Yes, there should already be an o-ring between the reflector and the lens. Now add one of your spare o-rings above the lens to hold it firmly in place. I don’t know about the pressure issue you mentioned. But it seems to me that if the lens is shifting, there should be enough give for the additional o-ring. I’ve done this to my EDC A6 with no issues so far.

Ok. Great. That’s what I’ll do. I love this little light. It’s a perfect put in your pocket everyday and tell friends, look how bright this light is for its size. Will this affect any dust ingress?

Agreed. Great pocket power light. This should keep all dust out that may otherwise enter due to the loose lens. If you touch the lens in the process, you’ll want to wipe it clean. Be sure you use a LINT-FREE cloth, or you’ll end up placing micro lint particles on the inside of the lens.

So I got a pretty difficult request.

Does anyone on here have the CAD drawing for the BLF A6, and the Astrolux S41? Even just the head and bezel.

Sorry in advance if this is way out of line to ask for

Hi all,

I just received a BLF A6 driver from banggood, and I just have a couple of user questions, as I think my driver is not working properly. It seems to be in the 4 mode at the moment, so Low,Medium,High, Turbo.( Comes on in low I think, not moonlight) I can’t seem to access the config modes with 15 clicks, the light just keeps changing modes, I have tried both full clicks( ON/Off), and half clicks, but I never get to those 2 blinks that signifies config mode, am I doing something wrong?

If I do the medium press from the first Low, I get Turbo, and subsequently Strobe,Battery Level,Bike Flasher. Battery Level doesn’t blink, just constant low, so I guess it doesn’t work properly?

Any help/advice will be appreciated, thanks!

Flitsmal,

turn on the flashlight first (full-press)
then half-press 15 or more times, until the flashlight will do a sequence of 2 blinks. (observe first, don’t do anything yet).

Be observant when it does that “blink — blink”, pause a short while, then another “blink — blink”.

You need to turn off (full press) during the first “blink — blink” (after the 1st blink but before the 2nd blink) = this will switch from 7-modes to 4-modes or vice versa. (ie. blink — [turn off])

Now, to toggle mode memory, do the configuration again, wait for the “blink — blink”, then “blink — blink”)
(ie. blink — blink, pause, blink — [turn off])

Hi d_t_a,

Thanks for the quick reply, I have tried thanks, but it will not go to those blinks, it just continues to go through, low, medium, high, turbo. And like I said, there seems to be no moonlight
