The BLF GT70 "Giggle Monster" is here! 7,500lumens, 1,500m throw! Group buy Closed!

That is fantastic Mark, Thank you that is very impressive.
Really shows the difference in tints as well.
Thanks again.

Skv89 ?

Can’t tell if you are joking.

Just joking… I show you my pic that look like him…

As TA said, WOW! I have never seen a dent that severe from a drop!

My comments about people jumping the gun and getting on the paranoid bandwagon was in response to the person warning of impending lawsuits and implying Lumintop should send more carriers to avoid such an event.

As for dropping lights on concrete, I live quite a way away from much of that; it is dirt, grass and bush where I live. I was rather surprised when a drop on grass dented the positive end of a GA in a Zebralight SC600 HI but hve read quite a few reports of soft terminals on the GA’s. The only time I ever dented the negative end of a cell was a HG2 which dropped inside a bored Elzetta from about 3m up on a ladder. So much for being a weapon light LOL good luck with that on a shotgun!!

Anyway, I still think it was possible for the cells to have been damaged due to handling during shipping. I hope it was that and you don’t have any issues going forward and if not, I hope it is as you suspect and is a spring issue and not more widespread.

Just had to clarify that, I’d hate to tick someone off and cop a rude flag too

I missed this post Teacher and yes that is something I missed, I really do not believe there’s anything devious going on like cheapness etc.
But the mistake Lumin made was not clearing everything through TA first, they are in a rush to recover money,
Had they talked to TA then most likely none of this would have been an issue.
One of the biggest problems I have seen since I bought the first batch of cells from Neal is the nipple the Chinese are putting on is awful short, so today I bought 16 more cells from Liion Wholesale and a new Opus, I looked at his nipples, ON THE BATTERIES, and there is a huge difference, a longer nipple would have held the cells in much better, some of mine are so short I can’t tell if their contacting or not.

Ha Ha, All is good my friend, I did understand what you meant and this was really hard to explain without a pic to show what my concern was, I really just wanted people to look at their cells to be safer, it is a weird one.
Just bought 16 new cells with longer posi ends, so I’ll use these from China for what have you.
I’ve been thinking about doing a test with this one cell, like set it up on a nail and have a brick come down and puncture that negative end to see what happens, if nothing then I’ll set it on the band saw and take me a look inside, safety googles, gloves, flak jacket, and helmet at the ready … Ye ha

I know my 4” tube is a bit small for the blf gt. I am getting 5850 lumen @ turn on. ( 5 seconds )… is that what you guys getting ?

Button tops are sold by different companies and can vary in height slightly.

Here is a pic where I removed one from a different battery. You can see they are made from a thin metal and are fairly easy to dent or bend.

It’s total height is about 1.5mm. I think about 1.3mm is what sticks out, but it depends on the wrapper.

The GT carrier needs about 1mm. I don’t think I actually measured it. It’s not a big gap.

If your not sure it is making contact, just measured the carriers voltage. If one or more are not touching, there will be zero voltage.

I have the 3.5in and I get around 5200 lumen at turn on, so your numbers look good to me!

Yep… I noticed the exact same thing T18. The button tops on those were to short for my liking too. They barely make contact…
And I mean barely.

Is there a group buy for that Tshirt?

Neal wearing a UI diagram I made, because of a joke which went a bit too far during the BLF A6 project. I think he was going to send me one, but never did.

Anyway, it must have been a prototype or something, since it seems to be missing some dotted lines.

How old is Neal? He looks like he’s 12.

TK, yes that was supposed to be the proto and the shirts were to be made for sale here at BLF in your honor and the proceeds were to go to you and Neal to the best of my recollection,
He was still at BG then and I think they got word of it and Neal stopped responding and the shirt just fizzled out and we never heard anything about it again, what a bummer it was. You sure hit a home run with that A6 UI.

I spent all night trying to figure out what happened with that one cell of mine and I found out but it’s nearly 5:30 am here and I am beat so I’ll tell you later what I found.
I didn’t know there were two springs and all springs I’ve seen have a 90 degree bend on the end, but not these outer springs so I got a huge slice on my finger and a big bloody Sunday for me, so heading to bed, will explain later about how sharp that spring wire is.
Good night all… :confounded:

Sorry if this has been answered, but any updates on the warm tint option?

There will not be a dedicated warm tint anytime soon. It is about a 50/50 chance of 4000k (which some might consider to be on the warm side) and 5000k at this point.

Okay how about neutral?

The neutral tint LED’s should be ordered this week. How long it will take them to get to lumintop is unknown at this time as it will depend on how and where they are ordered.

With this new shorter battery cradle, will a flat top battery make good contact/connection in it?
