(prototype) the GT Mini

Is there a dead guy still in the [crushed] white truck?!

Looks like it. Really sad for the guy inside.

There was so little glue on my bezel that is was easy off with just a towel

My bezel was so tight I had to mount it in my 5ā€ chuck on the lathe and use 16ā€ adjustable pliers. Had aluminum between the jaws and the bezel but it took so much force the aluminum marked the bezel.

I really like Anduril, use it as much as possible. I find Narsil confusing, just me but of course I build lights for me soā€¦ Narsil is a pretty complete package out of the box, if you can deal with itā€™s complexity and like it, by all means keep it in play.

Iā€™m hoping the driver of the pickup got out to tell the truck operator something and left his truck in the wrong place. The passenger was just unlucky enough to not realize the big truck was moving and didnā€™t have time to evacuate!

Guess who still hasnā€™t received their pre-order lightā€¦. this guy!!!

Wait, this isnā€™t a competition for whose shipping takes the longest? Well, crap.

On the plus side, after taking three weeks to go from China to New York, a week to get through customs, and almost a week to go from New York to Queens (seriouslyā€¦), the package is finally in my county. So hopefully it gets here this time. The worst part was USPS repeatedly giving an estimated ship date, and only once that date had passed, updating it to say lol, nevermind.

Now hopefully the light isnā€™t in a thousand pieces from being stuck in shipping for so long. To top it off, Iā€™m also waiting on an Armytek order from weeks ago despite paying $15 just for shipping. Yeah, not having great luck here.

:person_facepalming: ā€¦ā€¦ Wow Delta_V, you have had a rough go of this for sure. :frowning:

Hopefully tomorrow!! By the way, what state do you live in??

Iā€™m in Wisconsin. Southern half, so not too far from civilization. Have made multiple orders from China, and never had this many issues.

Although itā€™s not like a thrower would have seen much use this last month with this constant rain. Just got done with the wettest August Iā€™ve ever seen, and September has just continued the trend.

I hope you will get it tomorrowā€¦ I measured 1286 lumen @ 5 seconds for the CWā€¦ I like this light. Small and compact throwerā€¦

Ok, thanks Delta_V. I hope you do get it tomorrow.
This has also been my strangest order from China ever. No rhyme, reason, or continuity to it. I hope to never have a repeatā€¦.

Strange summer & August in Alabama too. Both have been somewhat mild compared to other years & not as dry as a chip either.

Delta_V that sucksā€¦ really long time even for shipping to usa from china seems long, but dont worry the light was packed very good so it shouldnt have any damage unless a truck ran over the package.

please send Neal a mail asking him to investigate what happened to your parcel

Got my GT mini todayā€¦ GT miniscule measured 1318lm with a 30Q and 1463lm with a VTC5D.

Very Niceā€¦INDEED! :+1:

Hey Scott, do you recommend the new VTC5D over the older 5A? Looking for the absolute most delivery from an 18650 to stick in my Meteor.

And hey, gotta love that little GT mini, right? Did you get the short tube for it? Really cool in that format, just awesome all around for what it can do and itā€™s diminutive size. I think itā€™s a win, regardless of how close it is in performance to the D1S, different format and just overall really likeable.

Niceā€¦ your lumen number are reading high as well as d4sā€¦ did you wait like 5 seconds after you turn on the light?

Finally! And in one piece, lol. The LED isnā€™t quite perfectly centered, but doesnā€™t seem to affect the beam. Kinda disappointed in the diffuser, to be honest. Itā€™s too loose to be used for anything except tailstanding. Otherwise, itā€™s extremely impressive. Shocked how much shorter it is than a C8.

What is a Meteor 4P? I know they do perform a bit better than my VTC5Aā€™s in some of my lights. They out perform/perform better in my multi cell carrier lights, single cell multi emitter lights, (quads and trips). They hold the output longer too. I donā€™t see as rapid of a drop in output as with the Aā€™s. The VTC5Dā€™s got my TN42 70.2 P2-1A into the 9ā€™s the Aā€™s did not, as much as I tried and I have a lot of Aā€™s of different vintages. Now Iā€™m wondering about the VTC6Aā€™sā€¦.right, these are the next bad boy 18650ā€™s?

Edit: Yeah I really like this little bugger, the wife had to laugh when she seen it next to his three giant brothers! And of course I got the even more miniscule Micro Tube for the baby GT!

Naw, that read was at turn on with the VTC5D. I donā€™t do countdown or 30sec test with FETDD drivers, it will drive you crazy. I watch the output drop for anything out of the norm, like it sky rocketing down, other then that, I donā€™t really care. Now my Linear, Buck or Boost driven lights, thatā€™s when I care a lot.

Scott, yeah, the Meteor is 4P to 12 emitters. Stock the cell choice may not be such a big issue, but, well, mine is a long way removed from stock. May be pulling 50-60A. (I get a quick 17,284 lumen reading and it plunges, getting hot and draining cells at a crazy rate) So of course, Iā€™m looking for that little bit moreā€¦

The VTC5D (late 2017, early 2018) is supposed to be the latest, greatest chemical mix. Itā€™s a bit better than the older VTC5A (2016).

When it comes to the major battery manufacturers, it seems like their newest version always performs better than their older version. They are always finding small improvements. (Donā€™t qoute me, Iā€™m talking about in general they always make improvements)

very nice, i asume its cw ?
