When will BLF bring out their own Headlamp????

LOL think if there was someone who was actually interesting in making some they would be very happy to hear that you are “in for 2” but for not this is about seeing what interests there is and what people expect…

I did make some 2-channel drivers for custom orders:

This one is 1s headlamp driver for two triples (flood and spot), two e-switches and relatively complex firmware (but easy to use).

Another idea could be concept of minimalistic small and lightweight L-shaped headlamp.
As you can see most manufacturers do not care about this. Even ZL H600 mkx has 39g, and 98mm while old H60 has only 33g and 91mm.

If you look at H03 for example you can see many points where size and weight can be reduced. ( smaller optics, unprotected 18650, thinner driver…)

I think such concept with some BLF UI , and modern Hicri led could be interesting.

I was shocked that my M43 with 12x LH351D 4000k 90CRI renders colors worst than the M43 with XP-L HI or XP-G2 4000k 5D tint because the LH351D tint is so much further above the BBL, everything is yellow tinted, whereas with the 4000k 5D, white looks natural white in comparison and colors actually appear more vivid despite being only 70CRI. It’s unfortunate we don’t have access to LH351D with a less yellow/green tint bin.

I believe the best chance we have is a headlamp that will be available as a host. No glue. Removable 20mm lens with the depth for a Carclo lens. 17mm driver with threaded ring. Beefy solid shelf. Anodized “square” threads. Copper beryllium tail cap spring. Basically the things many of us have requested for years. Optionally, sell multiple tailcaps. A plain version comes with the headlamp, then versions with magnets some version or two of charging, or a lanyard hole, maybe a 1/4-20 hole, etc, could be swapped.

H30, and they’re claiming 4000 lumens. Not a good headlamp imo though.

I could be happy with an Emisar headlamp. Take the D4 and throw a kink in it. I’d still prefer distinct mode levels so I can more easily estimate battery life on very long hikes, but flashing the driver would fix that.

Would it possible to have 2 or more groups?

Group A could be something similar to Zebralight with distinct modes and Group B could be a ramping one like the Emisar currently has. That would be pretty sweet if it’s possible.

We are talking about 2446lm out of 15,35W at maximum brightness.

I think that this module would pe perfect for a headlamp - a lot of light with less heat than regular high-power LEDs.

SInce I have a non-modded SkyRay-King-Clone laying around, I think I will buy one of those. I am confident, that this thing can run pretty much forever without overheating.

Lightweight and floody for close up work for long periods and then the people who need distance and power(like car driving lights)

Ledlenser actually has a headlamp which has 2000lm and 2 leds - both zoomies. But the thing kind of seems a bit fragile and massive.
Ferei lights has a combo headlamp with XHP35 HI and XML, if i remember correct - the closest one that i personally like. Never tested it but i am afraid it get s bit warm on higher modes. They also make a lamp HL55 - 2x XML - super compact head . Throwier but still with very usable spill. Separate battery box is 2 cells. Tried it in real life…except the beam color and stupid on/off switch its quite nice. At 500lm-700lm was pretty usable because of great beam.
Both reflector lights…and ramping UI.
Lupine went different direction - pretty beefy head with TIR and several(up tp 7) leds…i guess for the heat reasons. With the TIR you need to push the lamp a lot to get some distance out. I think running mostly around 1200lm to be usable in our line of work. Quite heavy beast and the batterypack design sucks…super un-comfy in pocket or belt. The programmable UI is cool.
Cobra light from Sweden uses the technique of several TIR optics with different angle and fogginess…that makes the head quite large also but beam pattern seems nice. Ultra expensive stuff imo.
All those lights are great for “driving” applications - lot of light in front of you and good spill to widen up the range of vision. I prefere the reflector lights better, the slight hotspot helps a lot in shitty weather.

With separated battery pack, up to 2 cells on the head is not a big issue for me when the thing is nicely balanced. Meaning that good straps and head - pack weight is kind of in balance. The cables should be somesort of flat heavy duty ones…because they indeed tend to break. Specially in very cold places. Cells should be changeable but also USB loading in box should be a option.

For close up work there seems to be better options with all skillhunt, manker etc… Atleast regarding price performance balance. The new Manker with 2 x 14500 could give a interesting platform for lighter but still pretty powerful lights.

XHP70 driven by a led4power LD-3 all parts are made very simple and cheap TIR and GoPro mount and XHP70 came from aliexpress

Max output is ~4500-5000lm

What I would like to change when I got time is:

The lamp should be a bit lighter Output should be more efficient maybe I will change the design to a 2 LED design with lower current/LED and to different TIR lenses one with flood and the other very spotty

I would like to use the Lampe for mountain biking and for that purpose there is not really a good lamp available out there

would like to drive 2x XHP35/50 or maybe 70 with it

The recently announced Fireflies PL47 seems right inline with what BLF would come up with if a community headlamp project was started.

Slightly different configuration than typical, and a larger 21700 battery, but a floody quad emitter with high CRI and high output options, and likely either Narsil or Anduril for the UI.

That through head design for the battery is innovative. Can I pay with a nice set of nail clippers and file?

Thought it is a nice design it looks bulky…. so am not sure how comfortable it would feel on the head…. Having come from Bulky Petzl headlamps and similar… I feel the sheer size with the associated weight would be very off putting…. But who knows so lets see what is what when they FINALLY release the specs etc
