Alton Brown Rigorously Reviews Spicy Wings | Hot Ones

DBCustom My reapers did same thing here in NC. We had a hot spell and the flowers would not bear. The heat you guys endure likely has a major effect. My father in law is from around San Antonio and loves peppers. He bit the end of one of the reapers last year and it went straight to his face. I laughed till I almost lost my breath.

This has good heat, what a bottle of hot sauce should be. Be prepared to hit the toilet seat, better yet… reserve a seat for several hours post ingestion.

Comes in handy sometimes.

At the halal cart at work, I’ll get the combo with white sauce and hot sauce. Sometimes I swear the guy wantsa kill me. It’ll be so loaded with hot sauce that it strains me to eat it.

But hey, in by 1, out by 3-4, tops. Yeah, only a coupla hours or so later, I’m parked in the can. Cleans ya right out.

Our motto? “Everybody needs a good colon-blow every now and again.”

No idea what’s in it, but it hurts so good…

Oh man, halal sounds so good right now. Yeah nyc has good halal carts. Tasted the same as the cats in San Fran. Love that spicy sawsss, need to find one in DC.

I like the fact i'm not a huge hot sauce snob .

i like the regular tabasco and some of the cheaper more vinigar based sauces . the up side is since I can;t handle the super insanely hot hot sauces i can use vinigar or cheaper sauces and just a little of ones that are much hotter .

i have had Docs special, jamacian hellfire , piccapepper .buffalo chipolte , Chohula ,valntines?stimeys ,Tapatio, trappys original ,gringo ,stinger linger....ect

When raccoon city first posted realized i had 4 bottles just sitting on my desk in my office .

We have a local Mexican restaurant who has a killer habenaro sauce to die for . i always grab extra extra to go and have thought more than once about having it bottled and selling it .

i love the stuff

one of my favorite topics :P

Funny thing is, it’s not in “NYC” (as in Manhattan), but the outskirts of Queens. Still NYC, but most people think of skyscrapers and Central Park when they hear “NYC”, and forget about the outer boroughs.

Meow… Yeah, I like Chinese food, too. :smiling_imp:

What’s really good is the “green sauce”. Again, no idea what’s in it, but is absolutely amazing in a gyro. Definitely spicy, rather “planty” (parsley?), but goes so well with the lamb and lettuce.

Crap, now I’m getting so hungry, and it’s late.

Ugh. And ironically, I can’t stand the stank from vinegar, and to me Tabasco is just spicy vinegar.

Got this brown vinegar for sprinkling on fries and such, and while the taste is nice, I still can’t stand the stank.

Yeah, got a coupla bottles of Cholupa just sitting here. Could drink ’em straight out of the bottle. Think I have, actually. Nice taste, but not terribly hot.

Also got some green pfefferstoff that’s good, but a bit on the tangy side. Came from… QDoba, I think. We’d order up, pretty much know we’d kill a whole bottle (or more) amongst all of us, so just walk off with a coupla sealed bottles. I’d “collect” the leftovers, as in burn off the already-opened bottles, and when we stopped going there, still had a few sealed bottles which kinda followed me home. :smiling_imp:

We got a pretty boring lunch crowd now. Lotsa brown-bagging and same-ol’-same-ol’.

I was in a odd dollar store and ran up on the small Tabasco bottles of original for .50 cents a pop ...

Must have bought 10 minimum, and just used the last one :(

Man I hate to pay retail

Can we talk Mustard ? i just snagged 5 Big Plochmans for a buck each ..Some of the best basic yellow mustard imho.

Highjack alert !

<< good stuff

....< mustard w/ horseradish

four of my favorites along with chipotle and habanero tabasco

Currently working through a bottle of this:

Goes well with some smoked garlic sausage from the grill.

For a vicious bloody caesar (or bloody mary), drop a couple of carolina reapers in a bottle of your favourite vodka and let it rest for a few months. Use as normally in making the Caesar, but do NOT get brave and do a shot of this vodka. Trust me on this one… :disappointed: :open_mouth: :person_facepalming:

couple of other hot sauces to try that I didn’t see mentioned yet;
-Marie Sharps sauces (the standard habanero one on eggs is amazing)
-El Yucateco Black Label Reserve (nice smoky flavour)

Hmm, never heard of a BC before. Whut’s the clam-juice do to the flavor?

It makes it awesome….

It adds umami to the drink. a caesar is a lot more rich and full flavoured than a mary. Next time you are north of the border try one!

Hmm. I’ve had clams before (go on a yearly clamming trip+dinner, in fact), but never really tried clam juice. Only heard of it before on an ep of “Miami Vice” (w/ Bruce McGill… gawd why do I remember that??) and it didn’t sound very appetising. :confounded:

I might to try to scare up a bottle/can/whatever of “clamato” and give that a shot, first.

As long as it doesn’t add a fish-stank to it, it sounds okay.

So… I showed my wife this video and told her I wanted some of The End. She questioned my sanity… but she got me some for my birthday! It is HOT! :open_mouth: :smiling_imp:

My new favorite hot sauce is Valentina Extra Hot Mexican Hot Sauce.

It's hotter and cheaper than Tapatío Hot Sauce, though it pours out more quickly.

I just looked that up, and it does read like it’s a good all-purpose hot sauce, like my personal favorite, Cholula… but maybe hotter? I haven’t had Tapatío recently, so not sure what the flavor profile is.
