Bumpity-bump, MRsDNF. Iām mentally sorting through the 2 or 3 ideas I came up with. The one that seems most likely to come out on top seems to involve more assorted wood pieces than metal.
I will open a build thread when I decide which way to go.
Hmmmā¦ hmmā¦
I entered once in 2014, 1x AAA angle light, and i hardly finished, that is, the light worked for about an hour, and then a short circuit developed, and the tiny TIR dedomed a 219B for the second timeā¦
I still have the parts somewhereā¦ :person_facepalming:
The build thread has no more picturesā¦
I was gonna join the scratch build contest again, but canāt think of anything special and / or doableā¦
So i might join, but only when i have a good idea.
Iāve had stuff rattling around my head since seeing this thread. Iām starting to hone down my idea. Wonāt be anything ground breaking but once I collect enough parts to make a start Iāll open a thread
Going to have to miss this one again this year due to the financial mess left from my exā¦ These build contests are a lot of fun!
I still use my to past contest entries while camping and traveling.
At the very least I have to post in here, right? So, perhaps I will make an attempt to find my brain and see if thereās still something rattling around in there by way of ideas for an entryā¦
Well, if it makes you feel any better, I WONāT be building a lantern.
Iām thinking of making a thrower, using the 200mm condenser lens from Edmund Optics, maybe with the focusing aspheric I removed from a Canon ultra wide angle lens. Just have to figure out if I can make the 4-jaw chuck work on the lathe and what materials I need to get as compared to what I have on hand. Havenāt decided on emitter, thinking about the SBT-70 for itās round die. That would, of course, reduce throw considerably but would give a fantastic pattern and possibly 2000 lumens from a 3V emitter. I canāt see much over a mile anywayā¦
