My uneasiness is not due to the light itself (although I had to fix the 360 rotating cap that was jammed with metal shavings), but with Lumintop backing out of their own commitment. I asked prior to buying the accessories if they would be shipped with the light and was told twice that yes they would be. When they did not arrive with my light I asked when they will ship and am told that they never intended to ship them in the first place. Not a relationship I look for when I am spending $440 for lights. Maybe the Lumintop direct thing was more than they could handle. Don’t get me wrong. This is an amazing, milestone light that the GT70 team did a tremendous job on. I certainly could not have pulled it off. As with most BLF projects, things are not always perfect when you push cost vs state-of-the-art. But it is such a shame that something as simple as the cap and strap orders going through is such a hurdle. I’ll have to find some solution to protect such an expensive light, which is not a big deal; but it’s unfortunate that something unrelated to the quality of their lights has tarnished my opinion of Lumintop.
To be fair though, this is by far the smoothest Group Buy I have ever seen.
Edit: I would think that if Lumintop ran out of inventory, they would set up a deal with Banggoid for the customers to order the same items for the same price. I don’t think they would try to force a higher price on somebody just because they may not have it in stock right now.
That is pretty much what comes in the stock light.
I noticed the new emitter info was not in post #4. I updated it.
CW is 6500K P2 1A.
NW is 5000k P2 3C
TA says he would go with the CW for slicing the dome off over the NW. It’s the better looking of the two choices. If you can reflow leds then it might be best to shop around and get something that better suits you. If you like NW, maybe a 2A or 2D would be better?
I second that thought. The BLF Q8 5000 - by far is the best bang for the buck ($40-$49) for everyday carry, and power consumption. You will not be disappointed. I personally have 6 of them.
First off I am far from clear on exactly what has gone down with your order but my best guess is as follows:
Where are you located? I think that the shipped fee they refer to is due to your location. Some locations need an extra $20 or $40 for shipping. That would explain $20 of the extra $28 and sadly no, this is not refundable. Only the $2 overcharge on the price is refundable if you request it.
I am also guessing that the bag and cap were not included with the first order, which is why a second was needed. That would seem to mean that you need a $8 refund, not $6. So that is odd.
Finally far as them not being shipped together, sadly I can’t say I am surprised, nor can I really blame them. Having had to deal with mass orders like them many times personally, it is oh so very easy to not realize there are 2 separate orders going to the same address ad thus waste money shipping 2 separate orders.
Now the bag and cap should of been sent separately, that I can’t really explain.
I would suggest that you contact Neal, he is the one that actually sourced the bags and caps, it is possible he still has some available and he could sort it out on the back end somehow. I will contact him and give him a heads up.
We have not seen a stock CW dedomed LED yet to know what the final tint would look like, so it is impossible to say if it would be better or worse then the one from KD.
That one from KD should work ok though.
As Jason said, any A or D tint LED should work for dedoming. At least as good as we can get.
So what I mean is: Does a XHP70.2 always look exactly the same, with the same electrical requirements the same pad position, size, etc….? So I can buy any XHP70.2, and it will always fit……
I think this is the case, but I am not 100% sure….
Yes, they are all the same. You can configure to run them at 6V or 12V depending on how the PCB is configured, but the LEDs all have the same pad configuration and package size for the 70.2.
Yep, what he said. I do not know if there is a standard package name for the XHP70.2 footprint though. You could try looking for something like 7070 6v or 12v but I kinda doubt you will find anything.
