Non Flashlight orders/received

A small refrigerator for my garage. It’s basically a backup just in case the main one craps out.

I will have this Honda Generator by September 14th.

Nice Generator Glenn!

I ordered some new 18650’s from a new store, 18650batterystore.com. I got Samsung 25S 18650’s that are a pretty good match to the Sony VTC5A/5D at only $5.99 apiece. I got 8 of em and they were here in 3 days. Pretty cool!

Have a new Spinner out for delivery, a buddy sent it to me… his just like this one is getting almost 10 minutes spin times. Also got my wife a new bath mat, she doesn’t know it yet, also out for delivery today…. wife is from coastal Mississippi and misses the beach so I got a printed beach mat that has waves rolling in on the sand.

Thanks Dale! I already have a 4000 watt Harbor Fright generator, but it’s not the inverter type. It’s not safe for electronics. The Honda will be used for my electronics, internet, etc. The Harbor Freight will be used to keep my heating, fridge and lights going in case of long-term power outages.

I’ve always understood the Honda Generator was among the best money could buy. I feel like you’ll be very pleased with it.

Dale, my friends have the older 2000 watt version, and they’re all more than happy with them. The extra 200 watts and updated features should make this new model a real winner.

I’m getting tired of carrying my “parachute” back’n’forth to work, etc., so wanted something smaller. Ordered a coupla these in black and OD. <10bux a pop, too!

They’re MOLLE-compatible, so I’m ordering all kindsa goodies to mix’n’match (whatever I don’t already have).

Bottle-holder for a small Totes™ umbrella (or water-bottle, hey), already got my SP32Av2 in a tubelight holster attached, there are smaller bags like I’d belt-carry for my keys and other crap (ain’t gonna load down my pants/shorts with 30lbs of crap, not even if they’re cargo-pants/-shorts), phone-holders, all kinds of kewl stuuf.

Eg, here’s a nifty item for a phone, metrocard, etc.

which I wouldn’t put CCs or cash into, just stuff to take-with if you need quick access.

The rest, we’ll see. Might be really nice, might be crap. Ain’t spending wads on it. The nice thing is that with my huuuuuuge canvas backpack (that you could probably stuff 2 if not 3 babies into if you wanted to), “messenger bags”, other MOLLE-compatible stuff, these’ll all be interchangeable.

Don’t get me wrong, I really like my JanSport — waterproof, guaranteed for life, great CS — but it’s… well… big. Like I said, even when it’s almost empty, it’s like carrying a parachute.

What are the dimensions of that Lightbringer? If you have them handy. Do you also have a link to them? That maybe just what I need depending on size. Bought a few off ebay but, it’s so hard to imagine how big they are if they don’t supply dimensions. I have one that’s too small and one that you could hide a dead body in.

You have no idea how that drives me buggy. Looks nice, but if you get it it turns out to be half the size as expected. Or twice the size if you prefer it smaller (eg, for a phone, not a pie-plate).

Hang on…

Here’s the bag:

Roughly 12×9×2… which is not right. 12×9 sounds right, but it can stretch to at least 5” or so in depth.

The top part of it, that runs along the top strap, actually has a pass-through into the main compartment, so you could stick a small tennis-racquet into it. Or maybe stick an mp3 player in it and run the earmuffs wire through there. Damned clever design, and pretty rugged.

I ordered one from this place, then two more. Black to match pretty much anything, OD for a nice dark-green jacket I got. Might get another in khaki to go with my duster, who knows. I’m thoroughly pleased with ’em.

They might come with a bit of a musty stank to ’em, though. Mine didn’t, but I still tossed ’em in the washing-machine anyway. Came out perfect, no fraying, no wrinkling along the seams, nothing.

I got these from GB æons ago, which are quite nice, too.

Can stick a phone in the front pouch, other stuff inside, pen in the sleeve for it, etc. Limited volume, though, else I’d keep carrying that. That also has MOLLE straps which I could use to attach this to the sling-bag. Right now, I keep my goodies in there, and keep that in my parachute.

I’m itching to see how the phone-things are. Haven’t taken the bus to/from work in ages, but when I do (forced downtime, get to read, do puzzles, etc.), I’d rather get a metrocard from an easily-accessible pocket vs grubbling through a huge bag, or my regular wallet, etc. Same thing with a phone, pen (to do said puzzles  ), etc.

I’m more a vest guy. I can carry a lot in the many pockets. And then there is the expandable back pouch if needed, and many are vented for summer usage.

Thank your sir. That should be a good size for the things I carry around normally and a few things that I normally don’t because of pocket space. Never was a fan of things hanging off of my belt or britches so that will probably work perfectly. Think I will go for the black and OD as well. Thanks again.

I have (serious need of repair) a nice “army shirt” with a whole bunch of pockets, a safari jacket (same oodles of pockets), but I got sick’n’tired of emptying stuff out of one to put in the other, then when it’d be too hot to wear pretty much anything beyond the minimum required to not get arrested, I took to bags/backpacks/etc. If I had a “fishing vest” or “photographer’s vest”, I’d never even get out of the house. I’d be too busy juggling things from one to the other.

Besides, I’m not gonna keep an umbrella with me in a vest or jacket. Yet in a backpack, it’s there, out of the way ’til I’d need it.

And I used to carry more keys than the typical janitor, every friggin’ lock I could ever think of opening, even emergency keys for sis’s house, etc. Why, I have no idea. (Well, I guess if her house is on fire and she’s locked in, I could drive over there and let her out. Uhh, yah, right.) And I’m not the only one, as I know others who have similar key bundles that jingle so loudly, you’d think Jacob Marley was out to get you.

So screw it, dump it all into a bag and be done with it.

Now at least a smaller volume would make it (almost) necessary for me to triage my goodies and pare down if possible.

No worries. I could never get pants/shorts to fit, anyway, as I’m the “in-between” sizes, so it’s either 1” too tight (ugh!) or 1” too loose. And when it’s too loose, I end up hiking up my pants every few minutes, or end up with them around my ankles if not.

Damned belts nowaways… know how they’re made?? At least the reversible ones, it’s the bare leather slipped into a “slot” on the buckle, with 2 teeny little set-screws (like eyeglass screws!) going through the leather holding it in! And when one screw gets loose and falls out? Poink! The whole belt falls apart (stress imbalance from the asymmetry, plus doubled force yanking on it, rips right through the remaining hole in the leather). So they’re just for looks, not support, so forget about “snugging up” a loose pair of pants/shorts.

Wotnahell ever happened to the thick slabs of leather, folded over a thick one-piece metal frame, clamped down with a few industrial-strength rivets?

So anyway, yeah, anything beyond the bare basics weighing down some pants? Nuh-uh, not for me. I just even hate the feel of anything in my pockets, sliding down when I sit, etc. I don’t even carry a phone anymore, as it’s always in that small bag which is inside my big bag!

But follow the links as well. Lotta good stuff that only pops up after a half-Bacon of looking. Phone-holders, “wallets”, waist-bags, tool-kits (sans tools, of course), all shapes’n’sizes of bags with varying numbers of pockets, zippers, etc. You can even find something where it’s like, “Ooh, if I need to carry X, this’d be perfect!”.

So you lego it on, then when done, pop it right off.

And yeah, I dislike “camo” patterns. I ain’t doing jungle warfare, so other’n “Oooh, lookit me in my camo getup here in the city!” nonsense, I stick with solids. And black goes with everything.

Bunch of knives, trying a picture posting here, again, hopefully it works this time. Still have several knives on order I’m waiting for. Got all this in the last month or so, except the Uncle Henry and Old Timer…

Edit: nope that didn’t work, let’s try this one…

So how do I get pictures to show on this site without a link? I’m using Photobucket. This site is the hardest I’ve experienced to share photos. Very frustrating.

Ah ha, finally. Now can I remember how it was done… Lol

For that serious well made lifetime belt, look no further than The Beltman

David Giles will take good care of you, these belts are hand made in Clanton Alabama from a few choice leathers you get to pick. From Bull hide to Elephant, these are serious 1/4” thick natural grain leather that hold up the heaviest of loads… designed as gun belts they mean business!

I got a black Elephant hide that’s reverse lined with bull hide for ultimate strength and it’s awesome!

A pic from his site, a quick-ship black double Bull hide in 1.5” width. Ready to go, not special order…

You asked about rivets? How about screws to enable changing the buckle? (not little screws, Chicago Screws, heavy duty)

Nice Belt Dale. 1/4” thickness is impressive. It should last a lifetime.
.

That’s what I’m talking about!

For years I just stopped wearing a belt. Now, with more crap I’m carrying on me, I kinda need that “support” to keep things in place. And to make up for size-variation.

Funny thing is, I had a whole buncha nice sturdy belts like that, before I stopped wearing ’em. Hell if I can find ’em, though. So I splurged and got 3-4 belts from Kohls (that’s a story in itself), and they’re all the flimsy kind. They look nice, but that’s it.

Maybe I’ll get some sheetmetal, punch some “hooks” into it, clamp it down around the end of the leather (like a long flat aglet), then drill’n’fill the buckle to hold that inside.

I have a few Mission Belts. I like them because they have a micro-ratcheting size adjustment. Great to loosen a couple of clicks after a big meal.

My elephant belt has the added stiffener between the elephant and bull hide, this thing is SO stout, I can put it in my pants before getting dressed and the belt holds my pants in a “hoola hoop” formation, makes it really easy to step into em!

Got this couple of days ago.
Boils stuff IMO on a very small amount of wood.
I used to have the “gen1” from this, without the extended collar. It kept the pan/kettle a bit too close to flames. This works pretty nicely. Kids love to use it
