Well, true, if you can flash it into those lights!…
The FW3A will be the first light I will have with that FW installed, and as far as I perceived, it will be the first light with Anduril as stock FW, so it makes it different!
Besides that, the elegance of this flasglight makes it look better as a candle But that is just a preference
FWIW, a tail button is a bit of a drawback for candle use, because it means picking up the light to press the button. Otherwise though, the FW3A should work nicely as a candle.
I thought about what you’re saying and as long as it tailstands,I guess it wont be a big issue
Sometimes I use the Convoys to a similar function (bedside standing) and it works fine!
So, as long as the tail allows it to stand, it won’t bug me much! :+1:
Accurate clarification, that is what I was trying to say. As far as the diffuser goes, same for the D4 and this light, you likely need to roll your own.
I have the D4 with Anduril, and it does make for a great candle, even without the diffuser.
Wow - I don’t have ANY protected cells, and don’t want them either.
I don’t want issues with who made the circuit, how it performs, whether it will fit, metal strip running down the side - yuk.
I have a few Panny B’s for capacity and the rest are nearly all 30Q’s button or flat top, aside from a few laptop pulls, and some 14500/10440 of mixed breed.
Hitherto I bought mostly protected cells, as I got more knowledge about Li-ion cells, I will buy mostly unprotected. Think about Tesla, thousands of unprotected cells under your ass, still no spontaneously fire incidents.
Those are still protected, just through a BMS or battery management system. Still, there is the rare fire usually due to the battery pack being punctured. Way way more safer than gasoline, though. Even a protected 18650 can burn up if the protection circuit is in the negative end and the positive metal strap along the side gets scratched and causes a short in the battery tube.
I still use protected cells in headlamps and the lights that I give away, even if the light has lvp built in.
I’m hoping Fireflies updates future batches of the ROT66 to Anduril. If so, then FW3A would be the 2nd.
For the ultimate candle effect, instead of a slip-on diffuser, you’ll want to set it on a small fan, with orange and/or yellow tissue paper taped to the top to “flicker” in the breeze like this sort of gadget:
