They are not needed, purely optional.
It is hard to find carriers for custom mods to lights or in case something went wrong and you needed a replacement so some people are getting them while they can.

I couldn’t get any of the discounts to come through. I prob should have tried manually typing. But it went to PP and said after hitting continue it would go back to the Lumitop site to finish. But after hitting continue on PP it is ordered, unlike any other transaction I have done. Luckily I had only ordered just a conversion kit. The site doesn’t allow you to cancel paid orders so I emailed them and Leo with the discount email. I’d like to get this fixed so I could order the rest of my stuff.

Yes, you need to manually type the code in if it does not give you the discount (or try backspacing 1 letter and typing it again first). You can add the next item to your cart and try it now if you want.
Leo should get you taken care of.
DBSAR:ok, so i try to open the http://www.lumintoponline.com/lumintop-gt70-conversion-kits-p1523919.html website, but nothing works properly… all i get is a bunch of text, and can’t add to my cart, or purchase the GT70conversion kit.
is their site a joke or for real? there is no images or formatting, and none of the add to cart of buy option buttons work.Try another browser, your link works fine for me. Only problem being the apparent “Discount glitch” I mentioned above.
I got the same results with Chrome & Firefox.
Try clearing your cookies and cache, they updated the website and your browser may still have the old page cached and that would cause an issue.
Got my nw conversion kit ordered using chrome on my phone and selecting “request desktop site” in the browser settings. To make the code work, I pasted it in, and just clicked on the “order notes” text box, and the page updated with the discount. Weird. But hey it worked. Thanks everyone!
Cree XHP70.2 – Neutral White is a 5000k P2 3C.
Cool White is a 6500K P2 1A
What are the theoretical lumen differences between these two?
And about how many lumens will I lose by using the normal GT battery carriers?
Thanks
Order successfully placed for a NW GT70 with batteries, lens cover & strap, thanks everyone!

On paper they should be the same lumens bu they also have a 14% tolerance range, so rarely are they the same.
Also the tint bias on most meters will cause the CW to read higher.
To the human eye though, you will hardly be able to tell, get whatever tint you prefer over worrying about paper numbers.
The springs on the new carriers appear to be the same as the GT carriers, so the difference should be minor if at all.

Ok thanks for the info. I was planning on dedoming and thus was originally wanting CW, but I’m thinking the domed version throws far enough, and I really love the tint on my Q8 which is close to 4500-5000k from what I remember. So I may end up ordering NW.
I prefer the domed version myself, I don’t like the tint shift when it is dedomed.
After a couple of weeks with my GT70, I can say that I’m 99% happy with this monster. The minus 1% is due to the lanyard holes do not line up. Not the end of the world. It is heavy and I need to get a shoulder strap for it. Any recommendations?

You do know that the tail lanyard hole is on a ring that can rotate, although somewhat stiff?
Have not yet received email with code to allow ordering of NW GT for which I signed up. What should I do? Thanks.

The tailcap should spin to allow the holes to line up. A few said that there was a burr on it that needed to be cleaned off. You can remove it from the inside with a pair of needle nose pliers. the center section unscrews from the outside.

Mine was in the spambox.
Thanks TA for the nearly instantaneous response. NW+accessories successfully ordered. Now the most difficult aspect, waiting!

There is a full breakdown of the tailcap with pictures in this link. Unfortunately, I can’t copy the post here.

Good job, I knew that existed but had no idea where to start looking for it.
azj: teacher:Hmmmm…. that is strange. It worked for me. The Code knocked $20 off the price of the carriers…… making them $28 for a set of two.
Oh yeah, it seems they are just sold in pairs… no singles.
Worked fine for me too, I think that’s an excellent price for a pair a carriers, even if the are in fact different than the ones in the original GT.
What’s the purpose of a spare set of carriers?
Just use it as a spare carriers, or in the future, some machine shop will make a coupler which you can run 12 cells.
