A week ago Barry promised me to send a sample Sofirn Q8 as a thanks for starting this thread, it was send out 4 days ago and I received it today, wow that was fast! There was nothing special about the mail carrier or the packaging (the usual plastic envelope) but it must have been some express service.
So Iām lucky to be able to give some first impressions 
The appearance, well, as announced it is the Q8 with the flats on the battery tube removed.
Also on the inside I see familiar parts.
The performance, completely stock, on freshly charged 30Qās at 30 seconds, I measure 4700 lumen (I corrected for my djozz-lumen being a bit high), and 106 kcd throw. So the light output is similar to the XP-L version but the throw pretty much has doubled. I did not expect the stock light to have that good output with a V3 XP-L Hi ! (was expecting 4300lm). :+1:
So how is the beam compared to the BLF-Q8? Iām afraid I do not have a stock Q8 :person_facepalming: , but here it is compared to BLF Q8ās with Samsung LH351D leds and Luxeon V leds (left SofirnQ8, middle LH351D, right LuxeonV, all on comparable low setting, 3 meter from wall)
As you expect from XP-L Hi leds, the Sofirn Q8 has a nice tight hotspot, the leds seem well in focus.
So there you go, the Sofirn Q8, as far as my initial observations from this one sample go, is almost exactly what it promised to be.

Thanks for the pics djozz. I like the way the light background brings out the concave shape āunderā the fins. Definitely some kind of express shipping. Mine posted 5 days ago and still in GUANGZHOU (CN) by the looks of it

@djozz, that throw figure is amazing for such a large quad LED light.
100kcd+ is on the level of a FET C8, which is a very throwy light.
On another note, I have to say, the LH351D beam on that Q8 looks gorgeous :heart_eyes:
Yes, the throw figure is really good, the Q8 is nowadays a weak one among the big lumen lights, but it beats them all in throw (well, not the GT70 :innocent: )
For the record, I measured the light quality of the hotspot at max power: 70.5 CRI, 6550K, almost on top of the BBL (Duv=+0.0021)

Yes you are right of course, but I can imagine a scenario in which the Sofirn employee in charge of the website does not bother checking the list all the time and just gives the discount when seeing āBLFā. Someone could check that. :party:

Uh, sorry, Iām guilty of that.
I am not super patient, in part due to such a short memoryā¦ I know I am waiting on Amazon to get these and Iām on that list, but I also ordered one from AliExpress without being on the AliExpress list. Sorry if that throws a wrench in the works. I got excited about possibilities when ordered parts from Neven and , well, wanted to make sure I had one coming in case I forgot to order one from Amazon. 
I doubt that it matters a bit. It seems like Sofirn is not in a hurry to make an end to this gb, they even have not sold that many via aliexpress yet, and Iām sure they still have some margin on the gb price, every light sold is advantageous for them.
Maybe they arenāt checking the BLF list.
I think the Amazon US will sell out as we already have over 50 people signed up.
