New AA XP-G R5 interesting lights at DX!

Saw the new K10 this morning, looks very interesting. Lots of lumens per buck. Can't decide on 6 or 1 mode.

I ordered 1 single mode and 1 six mode

I'm looking forward to the reviews!

I will do, but probably next year (sadly)

Better no memory at all than next mode problem.

Yep! Look what happens with the TF F20....

Oh man! Both are "packaging". Very fast

How much money have you made from referral links?

Btw, the recoil thrower.... is the emitter placed in that silly metal arm? Seems reasonable due to the name and technology behind but how about heatsinking?!?

Arghh wrong thread!

From 19 november till today, no money, only 52 pending points................ very sad

Hey folks, looks like this flashlight is arriving to some people and giving the first impressions. Both of mine left HK on tuesday, so next monday or tuesday should arrive to my hands. Impressions given at DX forums:

Positive:
- Light output comparable with UF R5 (he says that on MED mode it has same output than some other Q5 in HIGH mode, both with 14500)
- good tailcap switch
- orings everywhere except behind the glass
- Driver accepts 14500 without damage
- good machinnig

Negative:
- Bad functioning the memory mode (reminds me the F20)
- No oring behind the glasss
- threads not lubed and some bad soldering

Umm I am anxious to receive both of mine!. I will give impressions and review (still 8 flashlights pending review!)

They said no problem with 14500 too, which is what killed my Uniquefire S10 before I even had a chance to take it outside. 6 modes is 3 too many, but this sounds like it could be a good choice for a small light with XP-G at a good price. Looking forward to your review of both lights once you get them.

OK Hope I will receive them next week

What? what is that? Another world record! Postman Noel has arrived to my house and guess what has given to me.....

One DX envelope with 2 flashlights inside!... incredible... 3 natural days after leaving HK, the record was 5!... and in this dates!

But I have no time to do a review until sunday or so.......... perhaps some first impressions! will update soon

Man that was FAST!!! I hope they are nice lights! I have my heart set on one if the 6 mode has a good low! I am still sad over my Eastward J09 sucking so bad. I knew you were right about the name confusion the whole time but I just couldn't stop myself from taking the gamble on it.

Hurry and post your first impressions!!! I am hoping they are good!!

First impressions (sorry, due to Christmas I have not time...)

OK, thanks to God, I received the correct ones! (one single mode and one multimode)

Both worked fine with AA after using 14500 (despite today there is a review in DX forums saying that the driver was destroyed with 14500). Maybe long use with 14500 may destroy it... who knows? I have to test, I have no time at all......

I have mixed feelings. With 14500, the 6 mode is brighter than the single mode (with AA is the same output both).

Measured the current draw with 14500:

SINGLE MODE = 1,06A ¿¿??¿?¿?¿ WTF?

MULTIMODE = 1,38A (high) 0,9A (med), 0,2A (low)

I have no instrumental to measure the light output, but "by eye", and comparing to others, I estimate:

HIGH = about 300 lumens (equals a 501B with xpg-R5... more or less)

MED = about 230 lumens (equals F20 on HIGH with 14500... more or less)

LOW = about 10-20 lumens (more or less)

Memory mode = almost inexistent. If you switch on in less than 4-5 minutes, it changes mode. After about 10 minutes it resets to HIGH.

Still much things to test. I have to check what happens to the single mode (maybe the very bad solders it have?)

Update 2

After playing some more...... the single mode is pending new solders to see if it improves.

Beam characteristics, the single mode lets talk later. The 6 mode has a big hotspot, but not as concentrated as the typical XR-E lights. Is floody but not as the UniqueFire AA-S1.

The driver continues acepting AA and 14500 with no issue. I have been used for about 30 minutes. No damages at all.

The single mode, I dont know why, has not any kind of hotspot. It reminds to the beam of the F23, which no have any hotspot at all. Maybe thightening the pill.....

Updates later

Update 3

About the single mode. I finally did new solders and did a powerfull cleaning of the threads. Now the current draw changed from 1,06 to 1,2A. Very bright now. Also tightening the pill as far as I could, the beam is now, aceptable, it now has a defined hotspot but not as defined as in the 6 mode (however nor the 1 mode nor the 6 mode has a well defined hotspot..... some mix between the UniqueFire AA-S1 and the F20). Still works with AA and 14500.

About the 6 mode. All continues equal, the driver mantains the ability to use AA and 14500. The memory mode is as explained

Final toughts: In this moment I like this flashlight more than when I received. However, I prefer another body style, for example, Akoray K106 body with XPG-R5. Is a good flashlight, despite the bad memory mode.

Full review propably this Sunday

Thanks for taking the time to post your impressions. Glad the 1-mode is working better.

Ya, thanks for taking the time to share this info, Fran82. Too bad they don't have a 3 mode (H,M,L). How is the output on eneloops? Any guesstimates on lumens?
