Lumintop GT Mini (Thower) Beam shots and more!

Excellent advice. :+1:

These are the best for high capacity and high quality. Sanyo/Panasonic 3500mah GA (not the old 3400mah B), LG MJ1, Samsung 35E and 36G, Sony VC7.

Keeppower rewraps some of these cells. You just have to know what is under the wrapper.

Awesome guys, thanks for the help. Just order my GT mini (NW), first flashlight!

Another question: any website in US where I can order the Samsung’s 35E? Banggood does not ship to Brazil, but since my aunt is coming from the US, I’ll order from there.

Final value: US$32,00

Looks like this code is expired. Any new code for getting the price down?

Check out M4DM4X and/or ‘NealsDeals’.

My GT mini NW is not glued. I will check my CW tomorrow.
I replaced the led with Luxeon V.

Thanks everyone for the comments. Especially to those of you giving quality answers to the questions asked here since some how I deleted the message that said I had updates on this thread. LOL!!!

Hello everyone, I noticed around the spill, a very well defined ring, which I have never seen in any other torch that I own. According to you it is normal, or maybe the LED is mounted too far / high. Mine is NW

Thanks in advance

Mine is the same. I thought it is a normal thing and with XP-L HI it doesn’t matter much. But when I putted in a much smaller led (Osram oslon black flat) I noticed that the reflector inner 3cm diameter is not perfectly focused bot the outer 1-1,5cm ring is good. So you can’t perfectly focus the reflector with shimming because the focal length is not equal on the center and on the edge.
I got 160 kcd only and this ugly hollow beam at 1-2m distance:

at 10 cm:

But I had an Emisar D1S and replaced the reflector with that and after only that change I got 214 kcd and the beam was like this:

So the D1S reflector is more consistent in focus than GT mini.

Thx !

here’s to find a little beam-shot comparison of my GT Mini nw., Cometa 2016 , Xin TD XP-G2 ded., and three more….

At what distance did you measure Lux? With these superfocused LEDs I think it’s quite normal to have a hollow beam at short distance, isn’t it? At least my TN42, MF02 also look like this close up to the wall.
Also how much current for 160k cd? At just 3A I get 196k cd measured at 14 meters in the Mini GT with the Oslon successor. But I also get the bright corona around the hotspot.

Fun fact: The XP-L HI from my GT Mini is the first LED I threw right in the garbage after taking it off the MCPCB, because the tint is really THAT BAD. :smiling_imp:

P.S.: I also have to order a D1S now to mod it. Thanks! :person_facepalming:

I measured from 5 to 25m at every 5m. And this was the best result.

I found that sometimes you gotta to toss centering rings and drill through reflector to perfectly center small led but no one do that

I tried without centering ring, but the reflector sits on the rim of the flashlight head. And focus got a lot worse. The stock centering ring seems to be about 95% correct in terms of height.

I don’t have that GT mini… So it does not go any deeper since rim sits on flashlight head? If so is there any way to raise the pill up toward reflector bottom lets say by unscrewing it slightly? And of course double layer of kapton tape on reflector bottom or contacts everything goes to oblivion… Than base your build around that centering ring (raise it by adding kapton tape or something if necessary).

I usually start centering with reflector bottom strictly on mcpcb and then I decide what I’ll do next… But we all have our own mothods and there is more than one way to skin a deer.

Look what I mean when I say drill through reflector with not so accurate accu drill lol :

No. This flashlight doesn’t have a screw pill. It has an integrated shelf.
