On the GT70, TA asked me if I would help out. I’m not a fan of Lumintop at the moment, but I don’t mind helping TA out.

1750 folks got their lights at a great price. 11 did not. To the boss at Lumintop this is acceptable. To me, TA, Neal and everyone else, this is terrible. There is not much we/I can do about it, though.

Do you personally have an issue that is unresolved?

I just talked to Neal and he said that they have fixed the rest of the issues when I got on to them pretty hard about a month ago about fixing them.

I never heard anything else about the issues so I assumed they were indeed taken care of.

Anyone that still has an open issue with the GT, please let me know.

Let’s not forget retailers also buy in bulk.

10 people might buy a BLF GT directly from Lumintop, while Banggood will probably buy 100+ of them directly. Shipping costs and the economy of scale help the price go down by quite a bit.

Yes I realized that TA after I made my comment, AS usual, so that’s why I edited it out,
I don’t want to start any confusion or have others upset or feeling ripped off or something other.
I generally try to keep my opinions to myself, but I slipped up… Sorry and thank you for the explanation, makes perfect sense.

Yep, that is indeed another factor. Banggood generally orders in multiples of 500-1000 is what I have heard, although on larger things like this 100-250 is a reasonable guess.

No problem, most people are not aware of the back end side of retail and things like that (prices being higher at lumintop direct vs banggood) are easy to mis-understand.

Yes, those people, supposedly they fixed these issues. I will send him the list and get an update on the specific issues though.

Thanks, that works as well. Now that I am reminded about this I am quite curious on what the status of these are. The boss was fighting me pretty hard but Leo and Neal said they would try to do everything they could to get them taken care of anyways.

The 115$US GB price must have not helped them at all in this case. In fact, they must have had some losses with the light since it costs a lot to ship.

Had the GB price been 150$US from the start, maybe there wouldn’t be backlash from Lumintop at all.

From what I have gathered, after all was said and done, they lost money on the $115 lights in a big way and didn’t break even until the final batch of lights in the group buy. There were jobs hanging on the line for a few months if things did not improve and the boss was NOT happy, which was understandable considering the amount of money on the line.

They seriously underestimated the shipping costs for the lights along with the reflector issues and other unexpected issues upping the cost of the light much more then expected as well.

All that said, it does not excuse them for not taking care of these issues, I have been very vocal on that, these issues should of been taken care of months ago and it makes no sense in the big picture to not fix these (fairly minor in the big picture) issues.
