Enogear AA Stainless Steel (AA/14500)

I don’t know when FW3A can go on the market. In the waiting space,
I bought D4.X1R.GT mini.D4S.ROT66.Enogear 14500 ……and several CRIs that have not been sent. :money_mouth_face:

I hope the FW3A will arrive before the end of this year. But because i am not using one of the lights in original configuration i have enough to to. Today i completed my H03 mod (everything is working but i have to wait 2-3 days for the new M1,6x4mm A2 torx screws). What did you mod today? - #5843 by TheOnlyDocc / What did you mod today? - #5858 by TheOnlyDocc /What did you mod today? - #5862 by TheOnlyDocc.
I hope i can find a new driver for the Enogear 14500 SS if the PWM is visible in low mode (visible PWM and/or a crappy/old UI are the two things i can not stand!)

Received my Enogear AA Stainless Steel (AA/14500) today. Inserted 14500, light turned on once then light no more - AA no change. TC8 is pretty though - so light. The carabiner and shark hanging buckle are nice too.
Australian Customs were impressed as well.

Is it just me or is the tail cap on the 14500 glued/fixed?
Edit: Jackie is sending a replacement AA light.

There is no separate tailcap. The shell consists of two parts: body and head. The switch rest on a “ledge” so it does not fall in, and than the retainer ring with the five “lobes” is screwed in (also) from the outside.

Jackie points out my Keeppower 14500 840mAh is protected, a bit too long

The TC8 is a beauty and with a different driver and a 351D 4000K 90cri led it could be a sweet light. Maybe later. (Host option would be great!)

I am not happy with Enogear.
A friend of mine is waiting for 7 weeks now and my order was a month ago. We both contacted Enogear (7X15 hour customer service) and both got no answere at all.
Do not want to open a PP dispute, but if i do not get any life sign soon i have no other choise.

Be patient a little longer: next week there is yet another Chinese holiday.
Enogear is a relatively small enterprise, something like a (very stressed) one-man-band.

BTW have you thought of the different time-zones? Beijing is GMT-8. We are GMT-1.
China has no daylight savings time (smart people!) so the actual difference is 6 hours.

Mine took 8 weeks to the day. He did answer my email when I became concerned though. As Henk4U2 said , they are small . Give it another week or so.

My friend contacted them 8 days ago (so the few hours timezone difference does not apply i think) and i contacted them 4 days ago. We both did not get any answere at all.
If i get an answere i have no problem with waiting a bit longer. But no answere at all after waiting for more than a week is making me very uneasy!

I had the same experience, but the light did arrive after more than two months. Well worth the wait btw.

A few minutes back i got an answere. Will wait and hope that everything goes well!

The encouragement from members on this forum was the only thing that kept me from panicking about my order. Like most, I got no answer to my queries. Since I had not opened an account, I didn't even know if my order was in the system. But after 51 days it did arrive.

I was so impressed with my SS AA/14500 flashlight that I made another (larger) order almost immediately. I use the SS 14500 every night as my bump-around-in-the dark to the bathroom flashlight. I love its soothing warm tint. But as fair warning, the SS AA/14500 does have PWM for those that are sensitive to it.

If you are thinking about ordering, I recommend that you (1) open an account first so that you have some level of order tracking, (2) make your order above US $20 so that you get air mail with (limited) tracking, (3) do email Jackie with your comments and concerns (I believe that he actually reads most of his email even if he doesn't respond to most), and (4) pass back kudos to him if you think they are warranted. I think this helps him keep going and may prompt quicker service.

My second delivery made it in an unbelievable 15 days.

My light arrived this week, ordered mid August, so it will come (eventually)

I killed my SS AA/14500 so please stick to AA or use short unprotected 14500
Edit: It’s come back to life but only for the same long protected 14500. I have an unprotected but it’s flat top so doesn’t make contact, I think. AA doesn’t work

So exactly how did you kill it? I’m still waiting for mine to arrive, shipped on 9-1, so probably a few weeks to go.

I translated it as: I put in a protected 14500 and cracked the driver when I screwed the head on the body.
In shorthand: do use short batteries.

@Sillen: since that driver is not a press-fit, but sits behind a minute retainer ring, try to get a new driver

Update:

Lumens: measured with home-built 50cm integrating sphere, "calibrated" with Convoy S2+ from Jozz.So they shouldn't been taken as the most precise ANSI numbers, but definitely a good guide.

With Eneloop AA

  • Low= 7 lumens
  • Medium= 39 lumens
  • High= 124 lumens

After testing it with a 14500 the light didnt turn on anymore using an Eneloop AA battery.. so I thought mine was a dud as well... But then I unscrewed the head slightly, and then the light turned on. So mine still works on both chemistries, but I have to unscrew the head slightly..

Anyone else wants to measure his, and share?

7 weeks and still waiting for the light. My Friends light is also still on the way (almost 10 weeks now).
The lights they sell look awsome and it seems they are well made but the shipping time is something that would keep me from buying again.

It’s come back to life but only for the same long protected 14500. I have an unprotected but it’s flat top so doesn’t make contact, I think. AA doesn’t work
