The flat for me too.
No flats for me.
Only a poll could settle what the majority likes, and even then the minority will not accept to be dictated by the majority
I prefer no flats, but that adds a little weight.
The SP36 looks great. A slimmed-down version of the Q8 !
Iām indifferent about flats or no flats. Iām sure to buy a couple.
If the SP36 gets a reasonable pricing, and it has Narsil UI, and it has well implemented USB charging, I will be all over it
Yup! Being a bit smaller and lighter but with the same UI and a good deal of power and battery life will be a huge winner.
Yep, the SP36 looks very promising for sure. As far as the flats, it makes no difference one way or the other to me.
FWIW, I think the light demands itās own style, based on size and overall design. Flats on the SP36 look good, without them it looks too ātubeā like. Just an observation though, not key enough probably to nix a purchase.
Yes flats for me for the weight decrease and looks. Thatās if there is a choice, otherwise I donāt care flats or no flats.
I like the proposed 36. What Leds ? I have been interested in longer run time lights lately like 26650 or multiple 18650s . I like the option to charge with USB if away from home .
The last 7 comments were about the SP36. Maybe it needs itās own thread?
Well, since Sofirn asked djozz to run this group buy and Sofirn themselves posted pics of the SP36, guess itās their call.
Still waiting on the Q8 to arrive, even to leave China, so until they start getting in our hands thereās not a lot to talk about in regards to the Q8 of this threadā¦
A thread in which to talk about a flashlight with not much info yet, that is in prototype stage and in which BLF is not involved sounds very BLF to me
Theyāve spoken about it on reddit before.
They wanted to go with NarsilM and a 3x18650 design. We suggested that they take an XHP70.2 80CRI or a Nichia 144AM R9050. Donāt know where it is now.
Is it a single emitter? Triple? Quad? Inquiring minds want to know!
Here is the thread:

I am interested in 1x 8Q, AliExpress
It's not a deal breaker for me either, but I was just trying to sneak away the prototype flat tube if Sofirn decides to use the round one in production
I like the flats, but I think they are best done when the threading is indexed so the flats line up with the button/other features on the light rather than random orientations. The indexed threading requires more labor for machining setups and thus more cost.
