Review: Nitecore TM10K 10000 LUMENS – 6xXHP35 HD SMO

Were you able to verify it does 10000 lumen?

I heard that they were not able to get good enough contact on the battery using springs so they had to spot weld the terminals to the battery.

There is only one Samsung 48T 48G 21700 cell in this.

The beamshots are fantastic in this review. Thanks for posting. $300, and the inability to customize the other levels is a turn off for me. Otherwise, very cool light.

Nice review and thanks.

I don’t care for lights with fixed, or proprietary batteries/cells, so I’ll pass.

Chris

this is what Tiny Monster should be, 10k lumen in your palm

I stand corrected. Point being, there is only 1 cell

Jeeze… we both know that is a total crock. You live your entire life here adding tons of frivolous speculation, so you should be the very first to point out the BS. :student: We have been bypassing springs and employing spring loaded pillars for several years to transfer far higher current. And try telling such ridiculous nonsense to tens of thousands of of vape heads. :person_facepalming: Nitecore is obviously pushing a proprietary package that most people will toss after the cell craps out. Plus, Im sure that everyone knows a single cell pushed to such extremes wont have very many cycles before it weakens. YMMV, but nothing new or miraculous there either…

As already mentioned, Im still trying to figure out what pushed them to even consider making such a terrible conundrum. The light is interesting, unique and likeable… except for that non-removable cell. I have noted that very little is mentioned in the few reviews of this light (or its family) concerning the non-removable cell they try to stick us with. SO in light of the fabulous and detailed reviews (which tells all in great details), very little is mentioned about a NON-REMOVABLE CELL. I have decided to bring this one huge blunder to the forefront of discussion (AGAIN) so we can figure out what really happened. So lets be redundant and mention this a few more times, shall we? This will also alert others that this is in fact, a flashlight that the user can not swap a cell for a nice fresh one. Reminds me of the idiot Toyota commercials, where they weld the hood closed on a new yota because its supposedly so reliable that we will never have to lift the hood during the entire life of the car! So we just throw the entire car away when the battery dies in a few years… nice! This light must be the Chinese anecdote to be played out upon the uninformed and unsuspecting. Sorry Mr. Nitecore, but Im not laughing and Im definitely not buying to fill our landfills. We already have large enough problems recycling all the cheap Chinese smartphones that quickly fail.

I think its past time for an intelligent, HONEST, English speaking FACTORY NITECORE REP to step in and tell us the real story behind this light. And please, no more silly lies about not being able to conduct the same amount of current through a swap-able cell… because you’re all just to dumb to figure out that a regular spring wont suffice and you cant figure out how to employ one of the many other solutions already in use in high current flashlights today. Sheesh! Thats actually pretty darn funny… and pathetic, all at the same time!  I suppose if they so foolishly lied about the spring vs welding solution, they’ll certainly lie about anything and everything else they can think of. We’ve sure seen it thousands of times on this forum alone. Must be a way of life for far too many to admit their horrendous blunders. Cough… Acebeam…. COUGH!!! COUGH!!! :confounded: :confounded: Of course there are many others.

ONWARD!!!
I was asked to take a look at these lights and acquire a sample for a client who held a purchase order in hand for 100-150 units, holsters, water proof cases, chargers and four times as many cells to power each. T’aint ganna happen now! No misaligned Chinglish double talk here, Ho Chi! We NOOOOOOOO buy from you now! YOU UNDERSTAND?? THANK YOU! Funny thing from a guy with a PhD + BA EET and several other credentials, that he didnt catch the small detail that THE CELL IS NON REMOVABLE during his research and reading the reviews. At first glance, I almost didn’t catch it either. I really should do the world a service and copy/pate this entire post across all reviews online so others will catch that “little” missing flaw that they dont want us to know about. :+1:

Cheers!!!

My point is more than obvious and there is still major concern. 1 cell or 1000 still makes no difference. The cell cant be swapped for a fresh cell and you drew very little attention to such a major flaw. Why would anyone want such a light unless it was provided as a free sample in exchange for a review? Yes, I got the same offer in exchange for a review, just as many of us did. Your review is EXCELLENT, the light is terrible.

I hope to see many more of your reviews in the future. Just please be a bit more forthright of the flaws in the products your review. Im sure you will still receive all your free stuff in exchange. I always did and everyone else always did when posting about the distasteful flaws.

Rude marks to you sir.

I’m just passing on information that was said from a different review. I think the way I stated it made that clear. When someone says “I heard …” that means it’s not proven. It’s a rumor, a speculation. It’s not MY speculation, it’s someone ELSE’S speculation. So you can take it with a grain of salt, etc…

And please don’t tell me what a should or shouldn’t know. I’m flattered that you think I should know it’s BS, but the truth is, I don’t know if it’s BS or not. With a claimed 35A for 7 seconds it may severely heat up a spring causing it to weaken and go soft prematurely. When you look at other high amp battery powered objects you rarely see springs used. Spot welding leads directly to the battery makes sense to me. You eliminate as much resistance as possible and boost drivers like these need the least resistance as possible.

Also, keep in mind that I have no intention of buying this light. It’s just a neat idea. I personally don’t like the idea of a fixed battery, but then I would just disassemble the light, cut the connectors, swap a new battery in and solder the leads back on. That’s just me, though.

The USB-C charging is nice - can it also be used to charge other USB-C devices?

If you mean the cable certainly. I used it to charge my Samsung S8.

I think he meant can the light be used like a powerbank to charge other devices.

Ok, how power bank does not work. I tried with a Samsung OTG adapter but it does not charge other devices.

Thanks for checking! That’s exactly what I was asking about - shame, this would be a super handy addition to the device :frowning:

Not really a practical torch. just an exxy novelty.

There ARE a lot of more useful and more powerful out there.
Once it’s 7 seconds (you’re joking of course) has tripped out. Without paying more than $100…
Well made as well.

Nowadays. the top “Budget” mfg’s. ARE as good almost as the multiple Hundred $$$ items.
Convoy. Sofurn. Astrolux. Imalent come to mind without even thinking.
and any torch with fixed battery is not really sensible if you travel.

No power where you stay O.Night. Dead torch next time out. Whoops.
Coupla battery’s in pocket, bag. No problems.

Astrolus S41. kept off last setting. fine. $24AUD del.
Imalent DN35 $46US Del with coupon Wide and LOOONG.
Imalent DN70. Loooong and a lot smaller in hand.
Convoy C8+ with decent driver/led. $32ishAUD.
Etc Etc. All under $60. WITH reliability and Build quality.
And they just a couple of what a lot of us have.

It’s starting to get to the stage, MFG’s are copying each other
as they running out of ideas for something new. Shape wise.
How many “Tube” lights. C8. L6 type are there with different labels/Drivers/LED’s in them.

I’ve stopped (just about) buying now.
6 or 8 different torches. virtually covers the FULL range of what’s out there.

Till somebody comes up with something……Other than copying each other.
It’s 90% internals nowadays.
and personally I find the 26650 cell the most comfort/Capacity wise, myself.
Can’t really see the sense in one so close to the ones either side of it.

Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that what works for you works for everyone!

I’d rather not carry additional batteries, because of the way I travel, that’s not always the most convenient. Being able to recharge from USB or USB-C gives me a very flexible travel setup - with powerbank functionality or USB-C, all devices can charge or be charged off each other which is very useful.

Adding a small solar panel means I’m not reliant on power and the solar panel is much lighter than carrying additional cells - depends how you’re travelling, different criteria become more or less important depending on how you travel, for example, when I’m camping by car weight and dimension are less of an issue than when I’m travelling by bicycle, where weight becomes critical. Travelling by motorbike the weight and dimension is less of an issue than by car, but weight is much less issue than on the bicycle with dimension being not so critical.

Everyone has different needs, which is why there’s so many different designs

How is it that someone with 79 posts on this forum is being selected by Nitecore to review their lights is what I’d like to know!!

Not detracting from the review though, it’s top notch mate

He may be new to BLF, but have a big reputation on CPF, TLF or an Italian forum. Who knows.

The posts are few in this forum but in the Italian forum CPFItaliaforum (where I live) I have more than 6000. Since 2011 I am passionate about flashlight and I have over 100 and as many I have turned by the hands.
A brand such as Nitecore decides to have reviewers in some countries to advertise their products and then are chosen based on the country of origin and not on the posts made on this or other forums where the reviews are put.

Makes sense :+1:
