I definitely was a bit disappointed in the Vf results. The reading seems reasonable according to the bins listed in the datasheet. Used a DPS5015 to provide power and to measure Vf. Used about one foot of 18 gauge leads. Didn't see signs of thermal sag.
I will remeasure tonight with a meter directly on the emitter.
You weren't kidding. I was expecting a small difference, but was surprised. I verified power supply readings at the power supply terminals, no problem. Then measured at the emitter pads. I read 3.02, 3.23, 3.42, 3.60 , and 3.80 volts at 1 through 5 amps, respectively. Good news from an emitter efficiency standpoint. Thank you for sharing your observation The_Driver.
The GT mini also has same body setup like D1S. 5 black flats ordered last week and I will put one in aa GT mini, one in a Convoy L2 on led4power MCPCB. And maybe one in a modded Convoy S8 to see what throw I can get from a small tube light.
You misread it. S8 not C8
Small tube light like S2. Basically it already has an S2 smooth reflector and a dedomed XP-G2 now with 3,15A 9x7135 driver and AR coated lens. It makes 22500 cd in that config.
The HaikeLite MT07S - HI seems like a good candidate for this emitter for any that don't want to electrically insulate under the emitter base. Looks like you would just need to use plastic screws to keep the driver from grounding to the host. Maybe a piece of kapton tape under the 2 driver screw a points for extra measure.
Pluses:
Smooth reflector.
The light would already have a large XP emitter base.
I'm assuming a buck driver? Just sense resister to 4 or so amps. Should have good run times
Black flats arriver few days ago. I putted in an L2 and a GT mini. Not tried them just picked the first. In the GT mini I got strange ring beam and only 160 kcd.
Replaced the reflector with the Emisar D1S (perfect fit) and I got 214 kcd. Still not happy with results completely. These numbers are measured with GA cells. With HG2 it was worse. The L2 is worse then old XP-G2 S4 2B dedomed.
