Got mine in today. Very impressed. I don’t normally like cool white, but this has a nice even white beam. I like it better than the BLF Q8.
That's a solid looking beam. Mine comes tomorrow from Aliexpress and your beam shot boosted my hope that I will like it big time.
I like throwers that don’t have pencil beams. That looks nice.
In the mean time, mine hasn’t shipped yet.
Pics are in this thread. Everything is exactly the same as the original Q8, just color is cooler and the hot spot is a bit smaller.
I happened to run across this picture by Khas. You can ignore the color differences because that’s not relevant. You can see the smaller and tighter beam of the XPL HI. It’s not a big difference, but you can still see it.
khas:The picture below is two identical Q8’s one with XP-L HI and one with XP-L HD
Q8 XP-L HD (left) Q8 XP-L HI (right)
.
Ordered mine a little late..about a day after getting my code and it said restocking sept 27? and shipped by oct 2-3 ? ...anyway it came today sept 25th with no prime /regular shipping .
This light has more throw than the BLF-Q8 but visually it doesn't look like twice as much throw . Cooler white tint outdoors is ok but inside it isn't as nice as the BLF Q8 NW tint . BLF Q8 IMHO is still a nicer light
I guess you just want a hurrah?
Hurrah!

Welcome to forum. The Group Buy is over. The price is now $50.
I think there are 6 left, but I’m not sure.

I think a couple hundred lumen. Maybe just 100 lumen. Something like that.
Nice, Goin to switch them out now. I can’t wait.

It’s the 4 tail screws that give a benefit. They are button head M2.5 x 5mm.
Bypassing the springs give the most benefit, maybe 300 more lumen. It will be drawing about 20A on good high drain cells.
Actually, just replacing brass screws can yield an increase of 400 lumens on XPL-HDs.
Bypassing springs, or replacing them with copper alloy ones can yield up to a 1200 lumen boost.
However, on an XPL-HI Q8, the lumen output boost will not be as great because of the higher FV of the XPL-HIs.

Where would you buy those screws? Can't find button head brass on Ali.

Really? I didn’t think the increases where that high. I am tempering my expectations. Lol

Local hardware store?
I think people were buying them on ebay. This was a year ago when the Q8 first came out so my memory is fuzzy. You might check the Q8 modding thread.
Hi was reading that folks were replacing the standard screws out for brass screws and in doing so getting a increase in lumes. Does any one know wee I might get the screws or what size they are .mine is in the post so I can’t check. Oh and also can a little bit of normal multi purpose oil be used on the tread of the torch head or does it have to be speachiel grease? Thanks
