The BLF GT70 "Giggle Monster" is here! 7,500lumens, 1,500m throw! Group buy Closed!

Hello again.

Just recently I got a message (from the customs) that the light is in “customs custody”. They shipped the light to the market surveillance which tested (or inspected) the light regarding to the product safety, Copyright, etc.

They came to the conclusion that the light is not importable at the moment (in this state / as of right now). They base this on the (EG) 765/2008 regulation.

The customs didnt recieve any more information.

They said that I have to communicate with the market surveillance from now on to sort things out. So I will send them an E-mail.

It would be nice to know (for me) if they shipped my light in two pieces. I saw this a few times in the past with other GT (70) shipments and this would make sense for me (CE logo is only on the tailcap from what I know). That could be a reason why they refused the light.

But I dont know what bothers them at the moment.

It may be the lack of a german Instuction manual, it may be because they dont believe that the light is CE / RoHS compliant.
But these are just assumptions at the moment.

But I think that the above mentioned regulation has to do with the CE marking (on the product / on the packaging / in the instruction manual).

It would be really great if you could help me with getting the information needed to satisfy them.

Otherwise they will destroy the light and I have to pay the customs & DHL fees regardless. :frowning:

That was quite a bit of work to get the money needed for the light.

And (as a student) I dont have ~500$ to spend for nothing :frowning:

Im shaking right now. Why always me ? Bad things like this happen to me all the time…

Wow, that is really strange that they would not have the option to return the item to sender worse case?

I am in the USA so I have positively no idea what could be causing the issue, we never have issues like this, at most they might open the box and/or maybe try to change some fees or delay the delivery.

The light should of been shipped all together in 1 box and the CE marking should be on the tailcap and in the manual, although the manual is in english far as I know.

Past that I really have no idea what they would have an issue with or what they are looking for. I know there are dozens if not hundreds of other GT’s in Germany and this is the first time I have heard of this happening.

I dont know. I think that this is really strange. I will wait for an answer to my E-mail from the market surveillance. I will keep you updated on this.

I hope that this is just based on a mistake or Something.

Sorry for my bad english btw., im just really confused at the moment.

Not a problem, I would be confused and upset as well. Completely understandable. Plus your english is really quite good. :+1:

I might have to ship the light back / return the light indeed. The customs wrote that even a certificate (regarding the CE compliance I guess) would not change the decisions that the market surveillance made. Now thats really unfortunate.

I will never understand the EU customs.

It’s an old story - bureaucracy run amok

I suggest you contact Matt ventureofblood for the dedome technique. He do good job… I think I have a xhp 70 dedome light from him., nice tint, and no green.

I know lumintop doesn’t ship like that… somebody opened it sloppy and tape it back…

I didn’t realize I could scroll down to see more pictures.

Yeah, that box was almost assuredly opened at customs and poorly repacked. Lumintop has special made form fit boxes they use and far as I know ALL GT70’s shipped in these boxes. Inside those boxed they are very well protected.

Yea it got to be opened by the custom.

The GT70 is safe as shipped from everything but being run over by a car or dropped in acid. It would be relatively safe to throw it from a moving car! Definitely someone messing with it in transit.

If it was Customs that opened & then half a$$ repacked this, they should be thrown to the Australian Crocs. No call for this less than pathetic attempt at ’repacking’. :person_facepalming:

What a joke! I live up in Brisbane and have both the CW and now (got mine yesterday too) NW versions of the GT70 and neither of them arrived looking anything like that mate!!

I’m not even sure what box that is - my first one arrived in it’s box, in a DHL bag and the second arrived just in it’s box with a DHL label attached. Neither had signs of beimg opened by customs but more importantly, neither had a seam like your box which leads me to believe they either did a really shonky job opening and then resealing it or it was transferred into a different box, or for some reason Lumintop shipped yours in a different box to mine. That’s all I can think of…as to why it is damaged? Yeah, someone definitely screwed you over there and that really sucks. I’d contact DHL Australia and possibly customs but knowing those dogs, I’d expect nothing out of customs :frowning:

Has anyone who received their GT70 done DC testing on it yet?

DC testing? What is that?

Sorry! CD is what I meant to say.

Ah, Ok that makes a lot more sense. Was wondering if I had missed out on some other common measuring scale lol

DC = direct current. Bypass the driver, run the emitter directly off the batteries. Lol

I think a lot of people have measured the candela. I’m sure they will post up.

Lets hope that whatever fall that made a ding in the metal body also resulted in a broken toe or 3.
