Test/review of Shockli 18350 1150mAh (Black) 2018

Shockli 18350 1150mAh (Black) 2018

Official specifications:

  • Battery: 18350

  • Battery Type: Lithium-ion

  • Rechargeable: Yes

  • Protected: No

  • Voltage(V): 3.7V

  • Capacity: 1150mAh

  • Max discharge current is 10A / 15A

A high capacity and high current 18350 cell.

Fairly good discharge curves up to 10A.

Conclusion

This is from the new generation of 18650 that has high capacity and can handle high current.
Compare to older 18350 the performance is very good.

It’s better than the majority of 18350 out there but too bad not as good as the Aspire and Vapcell. I’m really looking forward to a 1500mah 18350 to match 18650 energy density. Thanks for the review!

Wishful thinking, IMO. A physically larger cell will always have higher energy density.

The already known Yodeli 18350 1100mAh 15A (cough!) 10A cell. No surprises. It seems that Yodeli bins their cell production with slight chemistry changes and sets slightly different pricepoints to it, this is the reason this cell ranges from ≈1000mAh to 1100+mAh:

BestFire IMR18350 1500mAh (black-silver)

Keeppower 18350 1200mAh UH1835P (black) 2017

Vapcell INR18350 1100mAh (purple)

The curve shape is a little bit different for the BestFire and Shockli cells. The Shockli performs a little bit better at high current, with slightly less capacity than its wrap figure. Overstated as they like to.

Cheers :-)

P.S.: the weight in the Shockli cell chart (20.7g) seems incorrect.

And, for a given generation of materials & chemistry, a larger cell will also have a lower IR and higher power density, because it will have ~two or more times the electrode area.

Or, putting it another way, if Samsung made an 18350 that was exactly the same as the 30Q, except the case and core were shortened. It would have <1500mAh capacity, and it would have a continuous discharge rate of <7.5A.

I do not know what you are talking about, the weight is 25.1 gram

(Thanks, I wonder how that sneaked through).

I’ve always thought this was a poor choice of names for a battery... i was shocked when i first saw it .

I’m looking forward to the new line of smaller cells called .. Shorted.

So when you get a bad one you may say... shockingly I got a dead shorted shockli

If you think that's a stretch...

Thanks for the review HKJ

Mmh… either these Shockli or the Aspire doesn’t seem very consistent: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xr70mpOUS1s (minute 8-9)

Did someone able to somehow properly test these bought some recently? I am wondering if the stuff is still at least as good or super close, I mean, if they haven't gone downhill too much.

I hope they’re still good, I’ve got a 4-pack coming in the mail, but no testing equipment.

If you thought Shockli was a bad name… Uranusfire...
