I don't know, but at least in my mind, that doesn't really fit into the line of lights Hank made before. There must be something novel and/or smaller, not just a clone of the Convoy L6.
Emisar’s naming convention seems to use the quantity of emitters as the number in the model. A 4-emitter thrower could be huge. I’m guessing you mean is a 26650-powered thrower? I don’t know what that would be called. Maybe a D1SX? (D1S with eXtra battery capacity)
That idea strikes me as something that would sell well.
I remember 7 years ago, i was experimenting with such things with my “DRY” triple XM-L. Even used iced in the water and dry ice, external power supply with variable current/voltage.
I envy those of you who can use your lights in a winter climate. We have 30-31 deg C @ 8pm nights here.
It’s all about works in progress A_D, more than one company is working diligently to bring us what we ask, but they’re in line at the factory… we must wait. Really that simple. It is what it is…
I was really intrigued and delighted with the 7x XP-G2 DQG and found it to be an excellent foray into the multi-emitter market, keeping in mind too that they do trend towards minimalist design. Ultimately though I discovered that the driver output so closely matched a Cree COB in high CRI that I made some up-top changes and now have an excellent camera light for macro photography that is capable of 2004 lumens with zero artifacts and zero hot spot/beam disturbance. Love it in this mode! I affixed Velcro to my lens hood and can easily strap the DQG COB light onto the hood so the source is directly in front of my subject, works so well I have thought about acquiring two more to make an array of 3 lights around my macro lens for the ultimate in macro lighting.
Edit: The finish and knurling on the 7x DQG is top notch, my favorite factory knurling of any light I’ve seen, bar none…
And in the COB mule configuration, priceless to me…
Paired with my hybrid 100mm Macro IS lens on the Canon 5D Mk IV, images like this are just exceptional…
I did not realize that the Gen-1 D4 was more powerful than the current version. Was there a reason for changing the driver to the “less powerful” version?
I think that is referencing the new firmware for the 219c version that only goes to 80%.
The 219c puts out 5 hot peppers on the 1-5 hot pepper scale so max output was reduced.
No biggie, it’s still hellabright at 80%.
