I have used a d4 for photography and I find that even the very floody Carclo 10623 optics produces an uneven light so I remove the optics for this purpose.

That’s the reason why I’m really looking forward to the FW3A with LH351D, based on Toykepper’s comment it should be nice for close range work or photography :

When I voted in the poll, I hadn’t actually tried LH351D emitters. It sounded really nice from what I had heard though, so I ranked it second. But after trying it (LH351D 5000K 80CRI) in person, in both 10511 and 10507 optics, I would rank it last. I don’t like the beam with either of the optics. With 10511 it’s smooth but way too floody. With 10507 it’s less floody but the beam looks a lot like a zoomie in wide mode — a flat(ish) wide circle with fairly sharp and colorful edges, and virtually no spill.

I kinda agree with this. For normal use I usually don’t like the flood beams of mule lights and zoomies especially the rough edges. Judging by the sound of it, I probably wouldn’t like LH351D under quad or triple optics either. But you’re right, they might be very useful for close range photography.

Is the PL47 really going to have that odd two tone body? It’s up on the Fireflies site with no colour option and the description is unclear. I always assumed it was just a prototype.

Yes, we sourced back a head-strap to make it work as a steady headlamp.

That’s unfortunate. I think many people were assuming the prototypes were cobbled together parts just for testing purposes. That is not an attractive look for a production light. Really hope they reconsider and at least give people a way to obtain a single-colored body.

I disagree. The very first post shows the light in it’s two tone configuration. How is that misleading? Someone comes up with something other than solid black and it is unfortunate? We all have our thing, I get that. I’d take it in all champagne color and be happy if it is single tone.
