Hot sauce recommendations

Hmm, never heard of a BC before. Whut’s the clam-juice do to the flavor?

It makes it awesome….

It adds umami to the drink. a caesar is a lot more rich and full flavoured than a mary. Next time you are north of the border try one!

Hmm. I’ve had clams before (go on a yearly clamming trip+dinner, in fact), but never really tried clam juice. Only heard of it before on an ep of “Miami Vice” (w/ Bruce McGill… gawd why do I remember that??) and it didn’t sound very appetising. :confounded:

I might to try to scare up a bottle/can/whatever of “clamato” and give that a shot, first.

As long as it doesn’t add a fish-stank to it, it sounds okay.

So… I showed my wife this video and told her I wanted some of The End. She questioned my sanity… but she got me some for my birthday! It is HOT! :open_mouth: :smiling_imp:

My new favorite hot sauce is Valentina Extra Hot Mexican Hot Sauce.

It's hotter and cheaper than Tapatío Hot Sauce, though it pours out more quickly.

I just looked that up, and it does read like it’s a good all-purpose hot sauce, like my personal favorite, Cholula… but maybe hotter? I haven’t had Tapatío recently, so not sure what the flavor profile is.

Tapatio is pretty average but it seems to have a more earthiness than your basic red vinegar and red pepper hot sauces. Maybe it’s just because mine is pretty old ? Maybe it’s the garlic and ? Un-named spices.

I ‘ve been on a habanero kick lately and Aldis has a nice habanero and mango salsa that’s very tasty. I also grabbed a couple smaller squirt tubes of simmering spice that was duscounted from 3$ to a buck one habanero and the other one Carolina ghost pepper sauce .

the habanero one was insanely hot when I put a tiny dab on my tougue. I can’t imagine how hot the ghost pepper sauce is .. need to grab a few more before they disappesr... lots of pop for a buck !

I used to like Valentina but got kind of burnt out on it.Not really much flavor going on /although I’m talking orinal not the extra hot .

I have to admit I really like Taco Bells hot sauce .. “HOT” Nice that it’s now easily purchased cheaply at every grocery store on the planet .

Ive bought a few “habanero” items from Aldi and was always dissapointed. When I saw the hab and ghost pastes I kinda looked the other way. Ill have to check them out and see if they have any left.

@Boaz
Whenever I go to Taco Bell (not very often) I grab a handful of the “Diablo” sauce packets. Not exactly an extremely hot sauce, it doesn’t deserve the name, but it’s decent. I like to keep them on hand for when I’m cooking something and want to add a little heat.

Trade joes has a habanero sauce I keep thinking about trying . Problem is a loval mexican restaurant has some really tasty homemade habanero hot sauce to die for. But since it has no preservatives it’s good for only about three weeks in the fridge.

At a buck I thought what the hell. I’m going to see if adding them to a benign hot sauce gets me where I’m wanting to be. I’ve considered bottling and selling my local restaurants sauce since I’d met a guy locally who makes up his batches and bottles them at a place right up the street .

Just not sure it’s a business I want to get into

Yeh? Seriously?

I really liked Taco Hell’s hotsauce, but haven’t been to one in æons. Think the one I liked was called “fire” or something. Hottest of the bunch, I think. Nice heat + nice flavor.

Like it’d last that long…

“Fire” is no longer the hottest. They’ve added “Diablo” now. When I get a burrito from there, I usually add one “Fire” and two “Diablo” for flavor. Still not hot, though. :person_facepalming:

Yeah, they don’t wanna get sued if someone burns his face off or something.

Like “hot” coffee…

Yeah, I still think that McDonald’s suit was a travesty of justice.

It’s a tapestry, I tell you. A tapestry!

We go through Fire sauce pretty fast. Love it on chicken tacos. Ortega makes a “hot” taco sauce that is flavorful, but has very little heat.

The Diablo sauce has an odd, chemical taste to us, so we dont usually buy that one.

The Diablo is a fair bit warmer than the Fire, but I agree not the best taste. I eat more spicy things than anybody that I know personally, and at most i’d give it a 2/10 on a heat scale, probably more like a 1 actually. That’s pushing it. It’s nothing that’s going to burn your mouth.

The two sauces that I really have been meaning to get are Thor’s Hammer and Exhorresco. These are probably two of the hottest sauces out there that are not using extract. I use my extract sauces every day, but they’re always mixed in with something because it’s just pure heat and no flavor.

Not a sauce, but if you like spicy, Paqui’s Ghost Pepper chips are actually pretty hot. I’ve never had their one chip challenge with the Carolina Reaper. But this is a legitimately spicy chip. I’ve got them a couple times from the local gas station, usually around $2 for a smallish bag. Hotter than Diablo sauce and I’d say a solid 2/10 heat wise.

I’ve also gotten the puree pepper squeeze tubes at Aldi’s a few times. I don’t remember getting a ghost pepper one. But I’ve certainly gotten the jalapeño, habanero, and carolina reaper. The jalapeño has the best flavor. I use it the most but very little heat. Still way less flavor than fresh pods. The habanero is ok, just not much flavor to me. Heat wise it’s maybe a 1.5/10. The Carolina Reaper paste was actually the first time I tasted the reapers. I wasn’t really impressed with the taste. It’s kinda bitter and was way way less hot than I was expecting. I’d say 3/10 heat wise is generous.

Those’re the ones in the black bag? Think I had those once upon a time… really good! Hard to find here, though.
