Maxtoch XSWORD L2K // 2000 Meter Laser Tech Thrower // Full Review

Aha I see! Thanks for the clarification. Am currently hoping to see a 3km reach soon since its easily getting 2.5km roughly

For what it’s worth, I pointed the XSword I have at a water tower 1.9 miles distant and the water tower can be seen in the ensuing photo. It was a bad night to do this, humidity was bad and the bugs were out en-masse, but still the tower and it’s vertical legs can be made out as illuminated by this light, even from almost 2 miles away! I’m not going to say it was illuminated highly, it wasn’t, but still, even using the more inexpensive Canon G1X camera with a 1600ISO setting you can look at the image in full size, look through the mess of bugs flying around, and pick out the water tower in the dark night. (would be so much easier to distinguish if it weren’t for the illuminated flying insects!) It was a quick try and I had to leave very early the following day so there hasn’t been another chance since then, what with the amounts of rain that we’ve been seeing.

SOOC, zero re-touching…

And the little barn at 620 yds distant, clearly and pretty highly illuminated by the XSword…

35 lm/W at high? That’s incredibly good.

Robo, did maxtoch mention any estimates on the lifespan of the emitter?

Yeah but I think those people prefer spending $5k on a single superflashlight rather than $5k on 10 different flashlights that all basically do the same thing

Robert, there is no emitter.

I think the laser is supposed to be good for 10,000 hours, not 100% sure on that.

Very cool. Nice job. I don’t really have a need for a thrower larger than a C8 really but, this light makes me want to get one. I wish it was a little more affordable although I do understand this kind of performance comes at a price. Maybe I can save my pennies up for one. Thanks again.

I have not heard or seen anything on the life span of the laser source, I will see if Maxtoch can give me a number on that.

Also thanks toddcshoe

I own a Maxtoch light and its build quality is top-notch, even better that some of the major players currently in the market:

Oh you just had to show that one didn’t you tatasal? I’ve been trying to find one for a while now, made the mistake of letting mine go to the neighbors son and really wish I still had it.

Nice looking light, for sure.

Yeah, very nice looking light. I actually posted those photos before, but just for posterity (and kudos to Maxtoch ), here’s another one:

It will be interesting to see if the LEP technology gets enough support to develop, and eventually trickle down to a more affordable price point.

I wonder how small these can be made?

As small as a regular LED flashlight.

The Xsword is now available on the Aliexpress site………….

Wonder how long before Dale does a driver “up-grade”…

No telling what he may try before it is all said and done , but I have a feeling he may let this one stay as is for now.

I have a Shooter 2X and it is very good, though I sent it to giorgoskok here in Greece and he changed the led for a cooler one because I didn’t like the tint.
If they can ship the XSWORD L2K via “priority direct mail”,I could buy one.

Robo, did you measure the candela/throw? That’s like the biggest thing to measure.

Did I miss it in post #1?

Yes I helped in the design of the 2X actually. The light itself and the tint was specifically designed for hunting purposes on the 2X and it is a more lemon or yellowish tint. It does work well for hunting , while it may not be suited for a “general purpose” tint for some.
I love ALL my Maxtoch lights , as I have couple of their small 16340 lights ( long discontinued now) and I have 2 of the factory dedomed 2X , a 2X that I modded with a sliced SST40 and FET , the XHP70.2 model that I swapped to an XHP50.2 for better throw and now the Xsword.
I also HAD the Red and the Green 2X lights one of those was changed out to the regular 2X driver and XP-L HI emitter and the other sent to Richard (Mountain Electronics) as he was needing a 2X for a special project he was working on. I have 2 of the M24’s and I also did a give away and the 3rd M24 I had was given away here in the forum at that time.

I have always said that I would put the build quality of the Maxtoch lights right up there with any of the Big name lights though and still feel that way with the Maxtoch products.

I am also sending you a PM.

I don’t think I actually put it in the main review but ,

In high mode it was 1.8 million for around 1.8 or 1.9 miles of throw and in medium 943K for about 1.1 or 1.2 miles as far as the ANSI meter goes.

EDIT: Maybe I can talk Dale into getting another shot that is more clear at the water tower by his house at 1.9 miles away as he did in post #13. The bugs were really bad that night , but with some cooler weather moving in now, maybe they will not be so bad.
Of course he will have to wait on the rain to stops if it is as bad as it has been here. We had 10 5/8 inches in 14 hours the night before last and we are at 5 1/2 inches now since last night and still raining here.
