Fireflies ROT66 Flashlight

 … :+1: … I like that!!
We just have different priorities of what is really important to us.
And hey…. somebody is going to control the narrative……

I didn’t have a problem with the holster but I am a little bummed at how cheap the lanyard attachment is. It feels like it would break off if I actually used it. Too bad other doesn’t just have a milled attachment point.

I feel the same way about almost every milled attachment point. There’s so little material retaining the lanyard, even on bigger lights. With some wear, tear and abuse, it’s not going to last as long as I’d like, especially if the lanyard is attached with a steel or titanium clip. At least the threaded attachments can be replaced.

/\ . . Good point leaftye…. … :+1:

I am about to order some 18650 flat top for the rot66… which one i should get ? Sony vtc6 or sony vct5a ?? Please input. Thanks.

Well, the VTC6 that I have work fine (I know they might bump a little) in both of my BLF Q8s and my ROT66 XP-L.

And they are not PINK! :disappointed:

Why not VCT5D instead of VTC5A?

Thank you chinooker… i just check illumn and they were out of sony vtc6… i guess i will have to go with sony vtc5a for $5.99 each…

I have sony vtc5d from illumn… expensive as hell… cost $9.99 each… they perform like vtc6… not worth it…

I like VTC6 the most too. It measures about 250-300mah more than the VTC5D and the performance advantage of the VTC5D can only be seen with a lumen sphere measuring a high power FET light. You can get the VTC6 for $5.99

I ordered sets of VTC6 from liionwholesale. I chose VT6 because of the combination of capacity and high drain performance. My predominant usage of the ROT66 is in the 50-1400 lumen range. I hardly ever use the 5-6000 lumen turbo blast.

I dont know man… i have a rot66 xpl hi from skylumen ( to test it out )… xpl hi version is not much better than sst20…

Rot66 sst20 with sony vtc5d… 7000 lumen
Rot66 xpl hi 6500k. Sony vtc5a. 7000 lumen

Xpl hi step down quickly…

How does throw compare though? SST20 still have the domes on their emitters, although they are very small LEDs.

SST20 4000k 95 cri seems pretty bright too.

They both throw the same. I can tell xpl hi have extra kick into it…

Does the XPL HI have a ‘hotspot within a hotspot’ effect to it, or is it a nicely filled spot like the SST20?

The recent 3500 mAh cells are probably a good fit… maxed-out capacity with plenty of power for 3000 lumens or less. In this light, high-drain cells are basically only relevant for turbo mode.

Those were my two top choices also. As either provides more amperage than the Rot66 can take advantage of, I went with the Vct6 for its 20% greater run time.

Don't know if this will help as I have a cheap camera, but here is a pic I took yesterday of the XPL Hi from from the ROT66 compared to the BLF Q8.

My vtc5d are not that low resistance and they are $10/ea

damn that XP-L HI beam looks perfect! I’m glad I have the XP-L HI 3A on the way!
