[Review] - Wuben E01 - XPG3, 100 Lumen, AAA - by Lock

Hi everyone!!! With this review we will see the Wuben E01, a small keychain torch powered by AAA batteries.

You can buy the flashlight direct from this link: Here!

Main Faetures

Packaging and content

The Wuben E01 comes in a small cardboard blister where inside, besides the flashlight, we also find three small spare O-rings, the key clip and a Duracell primary battery.

The body and the materials

The Wuben E01 is a small and light flashlight powered by a AAA battery with maximum output of 100 lumens.

The length is about 8cm and the weight is only 18g (battery excluded).

The build quality is impeccable. The Wuben E01 comes with a clip already mounted on the body. This is of good quality, not very thick, quite stiff and that guarantees a good grip in clothes and belt. There are also two small holes for connecting the laynard.

The body and tailcap have a nice work with knurling for an excellent grip.

The Switch in the tail is made of rubber, easy to activate and offers excellent tactile feedback.

The only unscrewable part of the torch is the tailcap. Here there is also a small hole where it will be possible, for example, to connect the supplied metal hook.

The threads are anodized so the physical lock-out of the interface is allowed by slightly unscrewing the tailcap.

Anodizing is perfect on the whole body

The well done lettering ...

At the negative pole we have a small spring while at the positive pole a protruding button and the mechanism for the protection against polarity inversion.

The reflector is smooth, the LED is a well-centered.

The hook is of quality and useful for connecting the flashlight, for example, to a bunch of keys.

User Interface

The UI is very simple. The Wuben E01 has 3 normal levels and 1 special level (SOS).

To turn on / off the flashlight, just click on the power button that acts as an ON / OFF switch.

To switch from one level to another, with the flashlight on, just tap the switch. This will cycle the levels in the following order: Low-Mid-High.

To access the special function (SOS) just press the ignition button twice with the torch off. A click to exit this mode.

Following the runtime test on the "High" level using a 1000mAh Duracell rechargeable AAA battery

Beam, Tint and Beamshot

The Wuben E01 beam is wide and allows lighting in the immediate vicinity (5-10 meters).

The tint is Cool around 6000k with a slightly warmer crown.

Final considerations

The Wuben E01 is a small keychain flashlight, light and easy to use even for the less experienced.

I would see it very well as an emergency torch to keep in the car, also given the power supply with primary AAA cells safer and more easily available than lithium cells.

At its maximum power the Wuben E01 delivers over 100 lumens that allow you to illuminate well up to 10-15m away.

Aesthetically it is very pretty, the anodization is well done, the aggressive knurling offers excellent grip.

The clip is of good quality and allows you to attach the E01 to the belt and clothes without risking losing it.

Quality product, also excellent as a gift for friends

Can’t see your pictures, my anti-virus says your pictures are hosted on a dangerous site…

:open_mouth:

thanks!

Thanks for the review, nice pictures. The knurling looks amazing, I’m a big fan of the deep knurling but seems like nobody does it. Anyone know if the threads are interchangeable with the Tool (so I can have the Nichia head from my Tool)?

Nice Review! Thanks! The pictures are great too. Making me want one of these and I don’t even need another AAA light! :money_mouth_face:

Should have photos of side by side with Tool

Does it support 10440 3.7V?

I like the look of this light, reminds me of the Lumintop tool. I’d be interested if it came in high CRI

Nice review and images Lock. Thank you.

Thanks for the review.

I’d get one, if the clip was reversible for clipping on a hat brim.

Does this light have pwm?

I wonder if the Streamlight Microstream two-way clip would fit this light?

1 Thank

Good review, love the glamour shots.

My biggest gripe with Tool AAA was with the UI; Medium-Low-High would drive me nuts and the lowest mode was way too high. The Wuben E01 on the other hand starts out with super low mode (not as low as Ti3) and has well spaced medium and high and a hidden SOS instead of strobe. I was looking for a Ti3 replace with a clicky and this might be it.

I tried it on my CPU fan and didn’t notice.

Here you go (with bonus Ultratac A7): Wuben E01, Lumintop Tool AAA, Ultratac A7 - Album on Imgur

The Ultratac is sweet!! Shorter than the others and still with a tailswitch!… Gotta look into that one as well! :person_facepalming: :money_mouth_face:

Thanks for the feedback on the PWM. I have already ordered one but just remembered to check on this. I don’t think I had seen it mentioned in any reviews

will it run the battery all the way down?
(vampire mode operation)
