For this kind of price, I think it can be a good gift for friends and relatives too, Christmas is coming. I don’t see any real safety concern of my two stock Cometa. The safety concern is definitely there if one to modify it like using higher gauge wire that will have higher solder blob and higher chance to scratch the alu. disc, also higher chance to cut the high gauge wire with the sharp edge of brass pill if tighten until the MCPBC rotated.
For those who still worry about getting a bomb, I think you better don’t over modify this light out of its design tolerance and you might tighten the MCPCB until it rotated. If you are really concerned, just use a layer or two of klapton tape under the alu. disc.
Ya, a few minutes ago was sold out.
I looked at the page showing 13 in stock, then I refreshed it knowing that was page of yesterday. And it showed sold out. Now I refresh again, it shows 3 in stock.

I think Banggood is preparing Backorder game for us, it is fun time for them.
Ya’ know, two years this side of the ‘Cometa fiasco’ and looking back; it was not a bad little light at all.
To me how it was presented as being a Jaxman Z1 host, when it turned out to be something entirely different; created by Manker was a big problem.
Basically Manker cloned the Z1 except for a couple of minor differences. In other word they robbed the Z1 idea from Jaxman & knocked it off.
…. This turned out to be a big problem.
The buying of lenses from Jaxman under somewhat false pretenses. :person_facepalming:
Then Cyberescudo, the ‘leader’ of the Group Buy pulled the disappearing act and cut all communications with anyone…… this was really not good. Especially when it finally was revealed that Cyberescudo had in fact given the OK for the last protype to be put into production & ‘the team’ followed suit in that recommendation. :person_facepalming: :person_facepalming:
And on & on…… :person_facepalming:
BUT…. getting past all of that, with a couple of very simple “fixes” ; it was & still is a nice, reliable little light. :+1:
Not quite up to be an equal of the Jaxman Z1…. but nice enough none the less.
Of course, at the time; it was not sold as a ‘kit light’ either. These problems should have been discovered before the Cometa sold. They were not & added to all the above BS it was a disaster……
Ha Ha Ha Teacher I started this thread, believe me I’ve told them, well not in as much detail, you were my right hand man back then during the investigation, your the guy with the big testicles and in their face, I don’t want to offend anyone with the other word for the same parts, you were great help for sure, I had to know who did what and why for Paul and we did get to the bottom of it all, damn scoundrels…!
For the price this is a good host but nothing like a real Z1, period.
Hope are people buy these things out of existence.
I was wondering when you’d show up, you’re almost late for the party pal…
I presume you know to read… I told that is on my tested sample and tell people to test on theirs if they want, so your post have no point…
Hmm my only one pastic ring on driver spring. So they are selling different batches probably, one come with both rings and one with only one…
As regards of the host that some of you tell that this is good/excellent host, I can’t agree, why, because last night I have just a little time for testing but what I saw on hurried, a b158 stock host ( with nanjg 105c and XP-L HI ), performing similar to this cometa with fet driver on full zoom mode !
I will do tests when I have more time and post here but what I saw on briefly b158 host is much more better for full zoom that this one !
Yeah T18, that was quite a time for everyone…… to say the least. In fact, if you’ll remember; the RUDE button was created toward the end of that time.
I’ll just leave it at that……
……….
As far as the difference between the Cometa & Jaxman Z1, what do you think? Besides the Z1 was an original design of Paul’s of course & the Cometa was a knockoff.
To me the ‘differences’ are mostly subtle.
I think the pill & disc of the Z1 are no doubt better designed. They both work of course, but as far as I am concerned the Z1 is much more refined & thought out.
The overall tolerences of the Z1 just feel tighter to me in general.
Ok I get that there are subtle differences it appears more so in the overall quality of materials and workmanship, but as far as raw dog performance the differences then are also subtle?
Just want to hear your opinion in that particular aspect. However, I f that’s all you want to say on that specific could-be-touchy-subject-in-view-of-the-past-circumstances, I can also understand any reticence.
I have not measured the numbers of each, but IF I had to choose only one (leaving out cost & all the BS of the Jaxman design being ripped off, etc., etc.) I’d go with the Jaxman Z1.
That’s about all I can tell you. The Cometa is good enough, the Z1 is a bit more refined to me.
A VW will get you where your going, so will a Porsche. Your choice… …
Also 22 mm size driver or more is better on 26650 host like Z1 I agree.
This 17mm need to be perfect fixed on pill and put in secure
to avoid shorts problems, tollerance are too smalls.
The head threads loose a bit and don’t have O’rings (Jax z1 have?).
Is rought when turned,need Grease
and can slip on the Led when head is hot
