Mr. Lite BLF or Eastward YJ 4-Mode?

Hey all, looking for a budget AA with a very low mode, and both of these came up. To those of you with the BLF Mr. Lite are the problems sufficiently fixed to make it a reasonable buy? Or should I chance DX sending me the wrong Eastward YJ? I'd prefer not to have to solder anything as I have... well, butter fingers.

Or should I just avoid the whole thing and get an ITP A2 EOS?

I have the MrLite J4 & BLF. Don't really like either of them. Bulky and don't like the beam pattern. I'd go for the ITP A2 if you don't mind the twisty and low-med-high mode sequence. My 2cents.

I have the BLF Mr-lite and i would agree that is a bit bulky but not that much. The light did not impress me much however. The low is really a good low tho. The light features a holster with a D ring (for a lack of a better word) supposedly to attach to a belt but have not figured how to actually do it. ?!?

Perhaps try with some that features ramping form 0-100%. Not AA powered though...

Hi there jekostas,

If you don't mind the slightly large form factor of the BLF AA-Y4E, I think you'll probably like it. On the other hand, I also have the Eastward J609 4-mode on order; you might want to wait until I receive it (probably end of December) to see if it's any good.

Still waiting on the Eastward ... HK post sais it started moving yesterday ..

Alright, I'll be honest - I just bypassed the whole thing and ended up getting a 4sevens Quark Mini AA2 since the R5 versions are on sale. I'd still be interested to know if the Mr. Lite BLF and J4 versions get their problems hammered out.

If you have time, feel free to review that Quark here on BLF, jekostas. We'd all be interested to compare Quark quality and features to our budget models.

All things considered, the Quark cost me less than $30 shipped from 4sevens. It could probably slide in to the "Budget" category anyways.

Wow. I came really close to getting a MiNi CR2 for $28 after seeing what a deal you got on the AA2. But I already have two iTP A3's so I figured I had enough twisty lights and didn't need to jump just to get a good deal. It was close though. I have a few things on the way, so I don't need to be spending any more money right now.
