[♛ FreemeGB] Fireflies PL47 Gen II 4*XP-L/ Nichia/ SST20 Hi CRI 21700 Right Angle Flashlight - ENDED

Ahh. I thought I remember the first post being different. It’s funny I guess. What brought me to this thread was seeing the two tone photo of the L shaped design in some search. “Cool!” was my reaction to it. That was my initial exposure. I have much gear in FDE or desert tan if you will, guns, knives, etc. Any flashlight with this motif I will be interested in. I plan on getting two.

I like the 2 tone as well. It’s nice to have something a little out of the box sometimes. :+1:

interested

Good move to have this light include a head strap. Fireflies is one of my fav flashlight brands now. As a tip, look into how acebeam has their head strap. They are the only company to have a rubberized material on the inner strap so that the head strap does not move around when placed on your head. Genious idea if you ask me

I guess those pictures misleaded us.

Yes.I like flashlight color in last photo. Dual tone is very strange decision, seems they have problem in anodisation process , and make dual tone from defective hosts.

Could ff make at least 2 version of dual tone?
1)Black tube, white head and tail.
2) White tube, black head and tail.
Than I would buy 2 , and rearrange parts by myself))

Woah!!! Look at that! Solid champagne AND solid black! I can get two and mix and match. This will be welcome news on this thread. Can I see a black tube with champagne ends?…

And I admit I was misled!

Nichia 219b vs SST20 NW 4000K ?

I’ve been away from the forum for a while and I’m not up to date on new LEDs.
I have a few lights with Nichia LEDs and like them a lot, but I don’t know anything about the SST LEDs. What would I gain or lose if I get this light with SST20 instead of the Nichia?
I intend to use this light for relatively close-up use, so I want high CRI, and a smooth, wide, beam. I don’t want a tight hot spot.

That's the spirit! 80+% of my collection is full black light. I am open to alternative colors, including mix tone ones.

It is actually not as bad as you thought.

so is it dual tone?? or is there a choice? and what is the actual date of release?

There bound to be certain degree of color mismatch for non-black flashlight. As long as the contrast is not too obvious, it should not be a huge issue for most.

I knew it would be hard to please everyone with its dual tone finishing, and I did propose FF to consider full black (classic) option last week. FF told me there will only be one color scheme during launch.

Will there be more colors combination to choose from? I guess it will all depends to the sale performance of the initial batch. If you must have the color that you are hoping for, get your voice heard by leaving a comment here. FF visit this thread regularly.

Just give me some amount of champagne… like a magnum bottles worth!

Twisted Raven wrote a good summary of the SST in post 278: [♛ FreemeGB] Fireflies PL47 Gen II 4*XP-L/ Nichia/ SST20 Hi CRI 21700 Right Angle Flashlight - ENDED - #277 by twisted_raven

The TWO colours show side by side in an ealier pic are not too bad and We’d take one of each….

Other colours well depends on when they are released and if, also depends on if they are improvements over first batch too……

I know I for one may consider far more(around 15 more) after testing the first ones we get as I require new group/client headlamps for the caving activities we run as a business… Currently use Fenix HL55 for that purpose( Myself and my other instructors use Nitecore HC65s). So thePL47 has to stand up to what we put those through. If so then we will get more if they are available.

Thank you! I missed that post. I think I was distracted by the image of the goofy hat in the next post

lohtse - How big are these caves? Does throw work best in your situation? Problems with flood lamps in cave environments?

The optics in the PL47 might be a little different than the ROT66, but I can share my experience with the two in the ROT66.

Both SST20 4000k and 219B R9080 4500k have same sized hotspots, but the transition from hotspot to spill on the SST20 is more sudden, so you get a crisper hotspot.

I think having a minus green filter over the SST20 is a necessity, but even without it, when you’re shining on anything besides big, broad, neutral colored objects, the SST20 renders colors extremely well. With a minus green filter, wood and flesh tones look amazing. I’m still up in the air as to which I prefer for outdoor use, but for indoor use I prefer SS20 + filter.

2 different colors for head / body? Yep that’s stupid, take me off the interest list please

I’d have to wait and hope for a mono color option. Any mono color option is more acceptable than the dual tone.

Hi Oceanfreak

Some of the caverns can be as big as a football pitch or even two and upwards of 100m in high…. Flood is best for “Most caving” but a thrower is also very useful….

There is know easy solution for caving… And then I use those same headlamps with clients on night navigation training too…. Best solutions so far have been the Fenix HL55 as slightly floodier and not as noticible hot spot than the Nitecore HC65s. But I love the HC65 due to the Aux light and Red leds.

The PL47’s am hoping will be nice and floody but due to the HIGH Lumens they should have a nice throw to… So at least there is the option… But we will see. As many Headlamps claiming IPX8 and good runtimes as well as throw etc have died a death due to a caving trip.
